So both floorings are real; we liked the look of the cherry better, but I am in an electric wheelchair, and our developer suggested the oak because of its durability. He said we could stain the oak to look exactly like the cherry. But I am liking the idea of installing the floor as the second responder suggested.

We have cherry flooring and it's very true that it color improves with time. I like it more each year as it become warmer and richer.

We have always had solid red oak floors some natural and some stained. I presently have a cherry stain. I think you would be happier with the oak and then pick your color.

I like cherry wood, warm and inviting. I'm sure it is just as durable as oak, even laminate flooring holds up well, so real wood should. Go with what will make you happy! Kiss Kiss

I just bought a house with bamboo flooring. It's lovely to look at, hard wearing and very easy to maintain. It's a bit expensive, may need to be revarnished every few years, doesn't need washing (just spot cleaning) and looks stunning.
