Use some Faux paint effects. This will help you give the room a smaller den like feeling or your can use the effects to brighten and make the room feel larger. I recommend a book by Ray Bradshaw called 1200 paint effects for the home decorator. It has hundreds of color swatches and shows you how to do it and has hints for specific rooms and clean up etc. I did a couple of walls in my house and it really makes the place!!! it was easy and not very time consuming.
