I live in western Canada, and on our back deck today, we found a big spider. It was similar to the ones we referred to as crab spiders that we had every year, but this one was brown with light brown spots, and it left brown splotches (spider poop?) under it's web. I looked it up and couldn't kind much, and discovered that crab spiders actually don't spin webs. So what kind was this?

It was brown with splotches of light brown on it, and it had a huge sac on it's back connected to its body. It spun a big web and was up near the roof on our house, close to the door. So, someone is going to kill it so it doesn't get in our house or something. Any ideas?

I am interested in buying a home with a few cracks in the foundation. How big of an issue is this, and how large of a crack is considered serious? One particular crack is about a centimeter thick. When is the foundation too far gone to be repaired?

I am looking at buying a house while during the orginal inspection I noticed a that the ceiling was saggin in the loungeroom. It is an old style colonial house built I imagine around 1950. I had a building inspector come in today that said that is could be fixed by running a steel beam along the roof from the front of the house to the back at a 90 degree angle to the rafters and tyeing them up to it. Has anyone done this before or has advice on this situation. Do you think it will solve the issue without creating more problems? How much do you think this will set me back?
I would appreciate any and all insights!

i'm in a 2nd story apartment in a 2 story building. i cleaned my shower with comet one night. the next morning i go to the kitchen sink and when i turned it on there was a pause like air in the lines and then the greenish water that went down my shower drain the night before came spitting out. i understand that many sinks / tubs all drain to the same place, poor ventilation can cause a back up, but my question is how can the shower drain possibly be linked to the incoming water supply

Starting on the Kitchen and Dining Room now. Are most people painting all rooms the same color and just using different color accents or do most people like each room to be a different color?

I had a sun tunnel installed in one of the rooms in my home to provide extra light, but it's working too good, in that it is providing TOO much light. I almost need to wear a sunglass to be in the room in the middle of a day. Is there something like a horizontal drapes or a filter that can be attached that would cut down on some of the light coming in?

One lady told me that & she said it's because they "have" to be machine washed & go through cycles.

I have no money or transportation to go to the laundromat.

Here's my problem. For some reason, all of my shirts are turning orange in the washing machine. My mom does the laundry, yet she can't explain why it happens. I do not own a single orange shirt, nor does anyone else in the house. Yet my shirts continually come out with orange patches around the collar. Nobody else's shirts - just mine. This has been an on going problem for the past 5 or 6 years. One shirt after another falls victim to the orange patch. At first we thought it was just clothes from old navy... even some of my pants from there (grey ones) began to show orange spots.

Now we have found that it happens to any and all of my clothes. What could be the problem? Does anyone know why this affects only my clothes and no others in the wash???

I have a two story house with separate a/c units for upstairs and downstairs. During the summer the upstairs unit will run for about 12 hours straight without shutting off. The thermostat is set at 72 but the best it can do is to hold at about 77 degrees or so. Is this putting a strain on the unit maybe causing damage? Is there anything I can do to try and hold the cool air in upstairs?

A few weeks ago i bought some black leathery K-Swiss shoes, and a few days ago they started smelling like a cat peed in them. I dont have a cat so im not sure why it smells like that. ive tried all kinds of things to get the smell out. ive constantly sprayed them with febreeze and that just made it smell like flowers AND cat piss. ive put pet oder remover powder in them and that didnt help. ive filled up some panty hose with kitty litter and stuffed that in them and it isnt really helping. I really need to know how to get the smell out and i dont want to buy new shoes.
