I have a yard made of slabs of stone and every time I look at it closely, there are these tiny, microscopic-silverfish like insects that move very fast and jump like a flea when touched. I don't think it's tick because they don't look anything like it. There are thousands of this tiny, microscopic things and they start to move much after sunset. Can anybody tell me what this is?

I worry the white stripes will go grey if I put it in a dark wash, and if I put it in a white wash the black will contaminate all my other whites! Help! What does everyone else do?

I was just wondering... thinking about critters that come by and eat the gardens, and wondering what they're like other places.

So, would anyone mind sharing what kind of wild animals you get coming by, and where you generally are? Not just in Britain - although, are there any Brits out there who could tell me about the racoons?

Thanks!

I just bought a Kenmore 5300 Air Conditioner a few days ago. installed it and used it for a few days. now it's making sounds like there's water stuck INSIDE of the A/C making some weird noise. I wonder if it's normal? or did I not install it correctly on the drain thing? I don't have the plastic thing on the drain thing, can that be causing the problem?

I'm a masochist, I mean rehabber, who's interested in getting a house to rent out and make some money. In running the numbers, I've come across something in which I have no experience: installing aluminum siding.

I want to know how much it should cost per square foot of the house, and/or how much it should cost for a wall of an example size. I need to have a mathematical basis for running the numbers before I jump into a project that could either bankrupt me or require a year of slow saving and work in order to complete.

There's no such thing as a dumb answer... although plenty of people give it the ol' special ed try. Please explain how you get to your answer, because that's what most important.

Thanks in advance.

Would you pay for a service, similar to a house cleaning service, that would have a handyman come out to your home on a monthly basis to take care of any minor home repairs and keep up regular maintenance tasks (like cleaning gutters, changing filters, etc.)? This service could be offered when you bought your home to keep it in good shape.

How much would you expect to pay for such a service?

The water in my apartment seems to have a lot of minerals in it. My hair started falling out about a year ago and my skin always itches after I shave. I am a 38 year old woman so this seemed odd to me. Would minerals in the water perhaps cause this? I am also curious of the best way to soften the water? I love the shower head I currently have but would also love the quality of my water to be better.
Thanks for your advice.

I really want to build a sweat lodge--but a fire ban is in place for our town. Is there ANY OTHER WAY to heat rocks to sufficient temp?

Thanks!

My garden has gotten too large for me to spend time talking to all my plants, so starting about 3 years ago I began hiring folks to come over during the day and spending some time doing it for me. But it's getting too expensive because I've got 8 people now working almost full time on this during the day. Will it work if I just record their voices and began playing it back during the day over some speakers?

I've sheathed/sided my 10x12 shed with grooved T-1-11 4x8 plywood panels. The panels are constructed with rabbet type ends so one side of the board will overlap the end of another board at the seam. Each wall of the shed uses 3 panels, so there are 2 seams on each wall.

Unfortunately I did not put the recommended 1/16" expansion slots between the panels where they overlap, so the panels are in contact at the overlap.

Is the lack of a gap a significant risk factor when there are only 3 panels / 2 joints on a wall? Can I live with it or do I really need to unscrew the zillion screws and reposition these panels to have a 1/16" gap?

Hi dear friends,
Some of our clothes lose colors when we wash them so we don’t put them in the washing machine with other clothes. It is very difficult and time consuming for us to wash them by hand separately. Is there any way we can put them in the washing machine to be washed along with other clothes safely? I heard that there are some products that we can use them with laundry detergent to help solve this problem but we are not sure. Could you please let us know? Thank you very much in advance, Rojin

Which brands are good, what to look for, metal or wood frame, styles (L-shape - good or bad, loft), etc.

They are 2.5 years apart in age.
