What are these bugs? They're on the carpet. They seem to hang out upside down on their heads all over the carpet. I also see them on the hardwood floors in the living room just crawling around and on the couch occasionally. They're a bit smaller than a tic tac. I think...I haven't had tic tacs in a while. What are these bugs called? I've never seen them before. They're hard to crush so you have to pick them up with a paper towel and they seem to pop after you squeeze them really hard.

Thanks in advance. This is really bugging me. They're everywhere!

We of course do not follow this practice if we have visitors or if we are visitors. If carried out nation wide the saving of water supplies would be astronomical. I know its rained a lot lately ..anticipation of some answers

I would like to know the easiest way to get rid of chewing gum out of carpet.
The gum is not 'trodden in', I got most of it out, but there is still a fair bit that is stuck to the carpet.
It is an acrylic (i think) loop that is cream in colour, it is very noticeable.
I would love any hints! Please help, this carpet is only 6 months old!
Thanks

Water is soaking into our fascia boards and making stain down the back wall of our house; roofer no1 (cheaper) says we just need the old bitumin felt under bottom row of slates near gutter replaced with new plastic-type felt. Roofer no.2 (more pricey) says we have no under-eaves supporting other slates (slate roof about 20 yrs old), which is letting the water in, so we need under-eaves added. Which guy is right??

Hi, I live in a block of flats, a neighbour upstairs had a new washing machine delivered and the old one taken away. I saw the Comet take the old appliance along our communal hallway which is made of tiles. They have scratched the floor and down some steps they have also chip the top edge of the floor tiles! They were not apologetic at all and thought it was just a joke and accidents happen! I was not impressed with their attitude and will complain to the company. They did seem careless and heavy handed. Question? Will I be wasting my time complaining to the company, they should surely pay for fixing the damage? We have CCTV evidence and witnesses.

Our house is so hot in the evenings even when it's nice and cool outside. We open both windows in our bedroom to attempt to create a cross breeze, but no luck.

Why would it remain so stiffling hot when we have all the windows open?

Our house was built in the 70's, it's a white raised ranch. The finished basement downstairs is nice and cool, but the main level is hot.

I HATE to run the A/C all night when it's Cool OUTSIDE.

And now the A/C broke stopped being cold. Perhaps it needs freon? It's somewhat cool, but not cooling the house down anymore. It's one of those HUGE A/C's embedded in the living room wall.

Does anyone have advice for either of these quandries?

I have three mini-rose bushes (orange and yellow) that I bought a few months ago and have them in planters in my living room. They were beautiful for a few weeks, and then quickly deteriorated, turning into dry brown sticks. I have now tried them in all kinds of sun, more water/less water, under lamps, in the shade, with fan circulating the air, and I've yet to have a healthy bloom. As a matter of fact, they're now just about deader than dead. Is there anyway to resurrect them, and how do I go about taking care of them properly so that this doesn't happen again?

Lately, we've been kept up at night by the scratching and chewing noises of a mouse coming from a particular corner of the room. We've set traps, but so far nothing has happened. We've had our cats prowl the room, but they have caught nothing. We saw the offending mouse just the other day as he ran along the white baseboard before disappearing into thin air. It's been weeks, and I'm becoming deprived of sleep! Any good ideas on how to get rid of this darn mouse?

I live in Louisiana where houses are raised and I really want a cheap and easy way to cover underneath the house ie..lattice but I don't want to bother with lattice because of having to cut each piece to size. Any suggestions on a different material that I could use to cover the underneath? I just hate being able to see underneath the house.
