Hi, I live in a block of flats, a neighbour upstairs had a new washing machine delivered and the old one taken away. I saw the Comet take the old appliance along our communal hallway which is made of tiles. They have scratched the floor and down some steps they have also chip the top edge of the floor tiles! They were not apologetic at all and thought it was just a joke and accidents happen! I was not impressed with their attitude and will complain to the company. They did seem careless and heavy handed. Question? Will I be wasting my time complaining to the company, they should surely pay for fixing the damage? We have CCTV evidence and witnesses.

Thanks for the comments and support. They were negligent and unhelpful. They should have been more professional. I will offer my evidence and get a copy of the CCTV footage. The damage is bad and dangerous(sharp knife like edges). Thanks again.

Yep get an estimate and ask them to pay and if they don't then sue 'em.
For one they should have had a dolly or something to cart the machines around on and second they should have been professional enough to have delivered and removed with out a scratch.
I'd have all their damage fixed by them.

Depending on the amount of the damages...it might not be worth it..
Perhaps if you are doing this in the name of preventing them from being so rude so others in the future...than I would agree that it is a good idea.
If you feel like you should do something than you should.
You can take this complaint to small claims court ..
If in your favor they may do something to the company..pull a license and also pay to have your tiles repaired...
The case should be quick and easy to win because you do have the evidence...

I'm those sorry people were so inconsiderate.

They of course are responsible for this damage, if the floor was this bad, they still are responsible. There are way, like laying down boards over the bad spots before going over them.

As long as you have evidence show this to the owner and let him know you willing to go to court with him. He may just write it off to insurance though. It's really up to him but, this is what makes an new home old.

It depends on who owns the lease on the block of flats.

If it is a local authority inform them and they will recoup the cost of repairs.

If a leaseholder, tell them.

If you have a service agreement with a company to maintain the flats communal area tell them too.

Go for it.

Put a Comet up Comet.

here's my 2 cents-
first get an estimate as to how much this is going to cost
then contact the company and ask them to please repair the damage...you already have the estimate. Make sure you tell them you have evidence. Get the wittnesses to put it in writing soon, so every detail is still clear.
and lastly....if they refuse..you know the law is on your side..."Small Claims Court"

Good luck
