Lately, we've been kept up at night by the scratching and chewing noises of a mouse coming from a particular corner of the room. We've set traps, but so far nothing has happened. We've had our cats prowl the room, but they have caught nothing. We saw the offending mouse just the other day as he ran along the white baseboard before disappearing into thin air. It's been weeks, and I'm becoming deprived of sleep! Any good ideas on how to get rid of this darn mouse?

Try a humane (very effective, and won't hurt or kill the mouse) trap in that corner of the room. It's a little plastic box with a door that drops down when the mouse goes inside (you bait it with a cracker or peanut butter). Then, you take the trap outside, well away from your home, set it down, open the door, and let the mouse run free. We did this with a mouse that seemed to be living behind the vanity in our bathroom. Finally, late one night I heard the clicking and rattling of the plastic box on the bathroom tile because of the little frightened mouse trapped inside. When I released the mouse outside (about 100 feet from our home), it ran about 6 feet away, stopped to look at me, and then ran into some bushes. I think it was thanking me for being kind. I hope you do the same..the mouse isn't your enemy, just an unwelcome visitor. Good luck to you both!
I have listed two kinds. Check out the websites and call them for retailers or to order them. They are relatively inexpensive when you consider their effectiveness..and they are reusable.

Tootsie rolls work wonders as bait.
I have to say, though, that my own mouse problem did not go away until I put all my food in plastic boxes. (Food in cardboard boxes and bags, and envelope packages of gravy mixes, etc) Also put out poison in the cabinets they loved most because they learned to avoid the traps.
I was unable to seal the cracks/holes in the house, because I live in a rental mobile home, and older model, and there are just WAY too many places they can get in, and I don't have the kind of money it would take to seal it up.

Try peanut butter. But the exceptional solution to eliminate them is to have a cat within the condo, although it is for a short while. Cats produce a chemical of their sweat that's a usual deterrent to mice. Having a cat within the condo for only a day or 2 could clear up your main issue. I've honestly lent my cats to a buddy for a few days while she had mouse problems. That was once 4 years in the past. She says she hasn't had a main issue given that.

Try peanut butter on a mouse trap - apparently they love it. Or a segment of apple.

we have the same problem. traps, bait, and cats have worked but we still have some. i've got rid of nests and sealed all wall holes with foam sealant. keep trying
