I would like to know the easiest way to get rid of chewing gum out of carpet.
The gum is not 'trodden in', I got most of it out, but there is still a fair bit that is stuck to the carpet.
It is an acrylic (i think) loop that is cream in colour, it is very noticeable.
I would love any hints! Please help, this carpet is only 6 months old!
Thanks

Take ice to it then break it with a hammer and some wedge (chisel). It should crumble apart.

Try to scrape away as much of the gum as possible, using a spatula or spoon. Next, vacuum or brush up any loose pieces left. If there is still some gum clinging to the carpet fibres, rub a plastic bag filled with ice cubes over the area, until the gum fragments freeze. Now you can chip them gently away using a spatula or spoon again. Lastly, you can dissolve any final traces by dabbing with dry-cleaning fluid and then blotting dry, followed by a solution of ¼ tsp mild washing up detergent and 1 cup water, before rinsing thoroughly. If you are really having trouble, don't panic - any commercial carpet cleaner with a hot water extraction unit (steam cleaner) will be able to remove the gum, even if it is an old stain - you can always call on them as a last resort.

Freeze the gum with an ice pack. Then you should be able to break the gum into pieces and remove it from the carpet

I'm referring back to what I was taught at home by my mom. Take ice or an ice pack and put it on the spot. When it freezes or hardens, then it should break up and come out of the carpet.

lighter fluid breaks down gum based residue
Goo Gone also works well

The odor can be eliminated with dish soap and water to clean and sprinkle with baking soda, let set and repeat if necessary.
