As long as you maintain them and keep them in good working order, they were made to run 24-7, this is what they do but, keep them up, check them once a week, clean them in the fall and spring, don't forget you have them until there's a problem. This is what most people do, then they cry that they hav a problem.

Yes, it is safe to operate a swamp cooler 24/7. There should not be a problem of motor overheating if they were installed correctly. You are better off operating them all the time because it is easier to keep a house cool that it is to get it cool.

if you can afford the electric bill then you are safe, a motor will overheat if the bearings are faulty or the belt is not tensioned correctly, or bearings not greased( if a grease port is present)but causing a fire is not likely, the motors have built in protection and will trip if the motor is running too hot/drawing high amps. Keep them maintenenced properly and they will last a long time!

All motors are thermally protected if they are new should be no problem runing them 24/7

Yes. I would look at them weekly or more, though. Listen for bearing or belt noise, check that water valve, float and overflow drain working ok. And clean the filters and fan blades.
