The water in my apartment seems to have a lot of minerals in it. My hair started falling out about a year ago and my skin always itches after I shave. I am a 38 year old woman so this seemed odd to me. Would minerals in the water perhaps cause this? I am also curious of the best way to soften the water? I love the shower head I currently have but would also love the quality of my water to be better.
Thanks for your advice.

Have you been to a doctor and had a complete physical? If not get one; It may not be the water.
Are others in the building an / or area experiencing the same symptoms? If the are more people experiencing the same sym[ptoms, go after the health department to have the water quality thoroughly tested.

there are water filters you attach to your sink spigot but it's only for drinking water (cause the filter is small). I don't think there are filters for the entire apartment as the salt would rot the pipes eventually and that would be costly for the apartment complex. But you can get things like "calgon" that you buy in a box in the bubble bath area of your grocery store, and that will soften your water, however you'd need to be taking a bath in the tub (not the shower) to get the best results out of that product.

If you have water that is compromising your health, you should have is tested professionally to find out what is in there. Once you found out what is in it, you will have a better idea on how to treat your water. Without know what is in the water, you could be wasting money treating it when you don't have to.

itchy legs~~~ Use baby oil on your body before leaving the shower and be sure to rinse it off and your legs or body, for that matter, will never be itchy!!
