My garden has gotten too large for me to spend time talking to all my plants, so starting about 3 years ago I began hiring folks to come over during the day and spending some time doing it for me. But it's getting too expensive because I've got 8 people now working almost full time on this during the day. Will it work if I just record their voices and began playing it back during the day over some speakers?

i did a science fair project a few years ago and played constant soothing music to my plants to see if it helped them grow at all... it did nothing to them... so no, speakers won't work... the plants want the CO2 from the workers.

I think this is a silly idea to begin with, but an episode of Mythbusters tried to debunk the whole theory. They had 3 rooftop gardens with identical conditions except one garden got no talking, one got a speaker with a soft gentle voice, and the last got a screaming hateful speaker voice. Amazingly enough, the soft nice speaker voice had the best growth, the loud speaker voice and the no voice one did terribly. I say try it, if you are serious!!!

Yeah, the Mythbusters grew some peas by screaming at them over speakers...

But the benefit of talking to the plants is the taking up of the carbon dioxide that you exhale, which they turn to oxygen. That is why they are so happy when people talk to them

I think the Mythbusters proved they could grow pea plants with boomboxes. appearantly, the louder the noise, the better.

no speakers will not work because when you talk to your plants your exhaled gas is what your plants they thrive on and helps them grow quicker and larger so keep talking to them....
