I have a forced air / heat furnance in my rental home. I was notified late this afternoon that the system doesn't turn on. When speaking with the maintenance technician he noted the furnace controler is "fried" and non functional. The furnance is manufactured by Consolidated Industries and approx 9 years old. The technician mentioned this company is currently out of business with spare parts pretty much non existant. He mentioned the control box needs to be changed but the spare part could not be purchased since they are out of business. Doing research of my own and having the owners manual I found the replacement and original part is made by honeywell and very easy to find via the internet. He mentioned that because the part is not available he wants to replace the furnace with a new one at a cost of 3k dollars. Does is sound like he is trying to pull a fast one on me? Should I consider replacing the furnace since it is over 9 years old or is there more life to expect?

I don't know how long there had been water in my basement before I discovered it but now there is mold on the wall. If I replace the wall do I have to also take out the two by fours or can I just replace the sheetrock? When I repalce the sheetrock is it true that you can just replace the bottom portion of the wall that is affected or do I need to do the entire wall?

I have 3 beefstock tomato plants and theyve each grown a little over 40 inches. They grow in my apt window out on the balcony. They get plenty of sunlight and I water them every day, sometimes twice a day. They have miracle grow soil and Ive even tried miracle grow plant growth (the blue stuff, mixed with water).
They havent produced any flowers indicating tomatoes. All they do is grow taller and taller. They are each very green and healthy. Did I do something wrong?

Probably has another name, it is in the hydrangea family. It gets bigger every year and has beautiful leaves, but no blooms. I got it as a start from another plant, and I have had it 3 years.

My husband is building our kids a wooden swingset and he told me that he isn't going to dig into the ground and cement it in as it will be heavy enough. I'm not sure if he's trying to be lazy but feel it would need to be buried and cemented in. The one we're building is at this url: http://www.swing-n-slide.com/timberbilt/pinebluffa.htm except ours will be 16 feet long instead of 12 feet long enabling a few more toys on it for the kids.
Should this be cemented into the ground? Or can it just be anchored in and be secure enough?

My AC has water in it(I can hear it being slushed around when I turn it on). Is it safe to leave it on with water in it? It's really hot here, but I don't want to risk any hazard.
