I use to have a wooden front door until recently, now it's an aluminum or fiberglass door & I can't thumbtack or nail anything to it.

there are several ways--you could buy a clip that hangs over the top of the door. you could use double sided foam tape. you could try large suction cups. if there is any steel in the door, you could use magnets

You can either use and over the door wreath hanger which I did but I also super glued a heavy duty plastic hook on the door also to hang a plaque that I wanted on the front door and I super glued a small metal plant hanger to the frame about two years ago they are still holding Strong even through the really cold winter months.

Over the door hanger or some websites sell magnetic hooks especially made for metal doors. I drilled a hole in mine and put in a screw.

they make hangers which fit over top of door. check home imrovement store (lowe's, home depot, etc)

3M adhesive products are good and can be removed and reattached without ruining the surface.
