My parents have an old house and the bathroom has a shower stall separate from the bath tub. The shower is a one handle shower and was manufactured by Kohler. It drips constantly. I unscrewed everything and tightened everything. I looked at the washers and everything seemed to be in good condition. I know the simple solution is is to call a plumber. Is there any other way I can fix this on my own for cheap? Please Help!!!! Thanks!

My mother in law wants to start a landscaping business and she asked me if I could look online to find out. Well I have been looking for the past say 30 mins or so and it keeps bringing me to contractors license. Is that what she will need? We live in Louisiana so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not to what she needs. I don't know anything about landscaping to begin with but if anyone knows about it please let me know!

It seems that plumbing in my house has a problem with water hammer. First, I thought it only occurs when toilet tanks are filling back with water, but I realized that it happens whenever water is used anywhere in home. It just that water hammer is not as bad when I use faucets. So I've been trying to figure out where or source of this water hammer. By listening to where the sound is coming from, and by touching the water pipe with my finger tips, I learned that sound is loudest where the main water pipe comes in through the concrete wall. I guess I can install a water hammer arrestor. But I am trying to understand why water hammer is occuring. Here is my guess. Please let me know what you think. There is a branch near this point where pipe leads out to the faucet outside the house. While water tries to flow further into the house, perhaps vacumm is being created in this branch pipe and causing water hammer. Is this possible? What do you think? Thanks!

I'm interested in arranging our garden and would like to know where to find a simple book or online guide to design perennial flower beds, shrubs etc in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I have a good artistic eye for design but am new to the gardening gig and would obviously also need a few tips on which perennial flowers go best together,

If electricians already know there is a chance for power surges, why don't they put in some standard type of surge protector right at the circuit breaker box, so all the electricity coming into the house is the same?? Wouldn't this make more sense than having to buy multiple surge protectors for every outlet and/or device in the house?

I just bought my first home (Northeast Ohio) and I have been working on the landscaping. It is now time to put down mulch and I have no idea what kind to use. The bark mulch looks nice, but is it practical? I have noticed that some types say they "repel insects" - is that important? How important is it to go with a brand name in mulch? I don't want the kind that stinks either. Any suggestions?

I have over 500 blueberry shrubs, bushes, trees, whatever, they are 12 -14 ft so they surely look like trees.Anyways I may have to take out 30 or so for a driveway and I want to know if its worth the money to try to transplant them. They are 10-15 years old and I sell them by the gallon. It will be a pick your own farm by next year and I will also sell them already picked by the gallon or half gallon. So is it wurth renting a digger to try to transplant them,or is it worth the time and money/I need to know how many gallons each one should produce.

I know this sounds silly, but how do you remove the black mould that grows on the silicon around the top of the bath/bottom of tiles? Or do you just need to replace it?

I had a new merbau deck put in 6 months ago. Finally got around to sanding and oiling.
The deck is looking rather "grey" and has a combination of some nail heads sticking out, and some recessed into the wood.
a) Should I be using a nail punch to put down all the nails level to the wood?
b) Should I be using putty to fill in the gaps left by the nails? (I've tried using Intergrain's Merbau putty, and it comes up horible once oiled with Intergrain's Natural Oil ~ the colour of the wood once oiled is different from the putty and it really stands out!)

Sanding the deck as is, appears to polish the nails that are protruding.
Using putty does not appear to blend well colour-wise one the timber is oiled
Holes left by recessed nails (nail gun was used) are black looking tannin stains?

Help!! What should I do??
