I would have to say yes, it may look pretty from a distance, and probably would, but don't you think it would be nerve- racking, every time you sat down to dinner, staring across the room and seeing yourself stare back? I would find it very distracting. But if it wouldn't bother you, or your family, (do you have a family? You said 'our' dinner table) anyway, if you don't think it would make you a little too self-conscious, then I am all for it. I think it would look very pretty, and would be a nice touch to your dining room.

I like the idea.
I have a 4 x 6 mirror in my entry, it reflects light from the doors.
At Christmas we string the white twinkle lights in front of it and it looks beautiful.
It has a 6 foot long mahogany book case under it. Although in terms of Feng Shui it is incorrect. But it looks good.

I did this and I only eat 1/2 as much now, LOL! Also my kids are much neater because they can see themselves. I don't recommend this for everyone, but for my situation it's very good. Now when we are guests in somebody else's home, my children eat nicely! All because of a mirror in the dining room!

Mirrors make rooms look bigger. But watching people eat is considered rude in many cultures. I'd recommend you find another alternative...
