We have a swamp cooler style small window air conditioning unit that is supposed to sit horizontally in the window, but we have windows that open left to right instead of up and down. Can we put the unit in the window sideways? Someone told me it might not work and could mess up the freon? Please help me figure it out, because it's really hot!

I recently bought a new doona (duvet to you other strange people!) from Ikea and it smells kind of funky. It's just a spare for visitors but when I pull it out the whole room smells. It's got feathery stuff inside and I have tried washing/airing/spraying with deoderant but no luck. Any suggestions on something I could use on it? Thanks heaps.

Okay so I live in Michigan and my bf & I were wondering if we could possibly plant a peach pit in a large pot or bucket & start a peach tree?? If we get the tree started inside where it is warm could we then move it outside & would it survive the cold Michigan winters? I live in this live-in motel and i seem to be plagued my roaches and ants. i live in a single room and i try to keep it clean but i dont know what the other people do in their rooms. now i have ants coming in how do i keep them at bay? there are so many cracks and little holes leading to the outside.i have an ac in my window where some of the window is gaping. what can i do, i have a small dog so i cant use something that would harm her. what bug killer can someone suggest? i feel at a loss here. the room is tiny.

Need ideas for teen bedroom.....?
I recently moved out of the room i shared with my lil sis and into the spare room. it is 14.1 by 15.6 ft. it has beams of the end and no 4th wall or door. i am thinking of maybe a curtian or something to section of my room to the hall upstairs that i share with my sis.
i love pink, green, girly themes, and don't really like bright colours or beach themes.
can you please help me think of something that will take me through my teen years?

okay, i just finish painting a toy box I built for my kids. I used satin paint but I didn't like the the way it came out. I want something more glossy. so what type of paint can I apply on top of the satin paint ; glossy, latex, any suggestion

My cat recently died, and though i'm still coping with the grief of losing a pet, i now have a new set of problems: there are fleas all over my apartment. I have clothes EVERYWHERE (i'm a 22 y/o female in college... what do you expect?) My loft doesn't have carpet, but i'm worried about what a flea bomb will do to my clothes. And if i don't treat them, i'm guessing i won't solve the flea problem.

I really hate chemicals and would like to do a "green" or at least semi-natural cure. Any suggestions?

I have lots of random ants in my home.Im pretty clean and dont have food all over the place. Whats even wierd is that they never go towards my cats food bowl. There alot of ants mostly in my living room around my couch. I already swept under it, cleaned it and spray clorox deoderizer on it and they still show up. What can i do!!!!

It's nighttime here in Ohio of course. I walked out into my kitched to get a drink and as I walked past my window, which has an air condition installed in it, I heard someone whistle. Can anyone see through an air conditioner in your window from the outside? I don't know!! I live on the outskirts of town, other houses nearby, just kinda freaked me out a minute ago! I turned the back light on after it happened.
