My cat recently died, and though i'm still coping with the grief of losing a pet, i now have a new set of problems: there are fleas all over my apartment. I have clothes EVERYWHERE (i'm a 22 y/o female in college... what do you expect?) My loft doesn't have carpet, but i'm worried about what a flea bomb will do to my clothes. And if i don't treat them, i'm guessing i won't solve the flea problem.

I really hate chemicals and would like to do a "green" or at least semi-natural cure. Any suggestions?

I have fought this battle too. I tried the vacuuming daily, bombs, sprays, and everything else you can think of. The key to killing them is to stunt the growth of the larve and kill the breeding adults.

Basically I spent more $ tring things and wasting chemicals than it cost me to call an exterminator.

I finally broke down and called them. It only cost me about $120 to get rid of them. I know I spent well over $200 trying. Somethings are better left to a pro.

You are going to want to get everything off the floor open all closets and bomb your apt. It might take several bombings for all the fleas to be done with their cycle. It also helps to vacuum everyday to pick up stray eggs/larve. Your clothes will be fine they will just need a wash. ... If you had carpet I would suggest mixing baking soda/iodized salt. It eats away the eggs/larve body and deoderizes the carpet/picks up loose dirt... With wood floors however it should be easy to pick up... I would maybe sprinkle the furniture and vacuum the furniture/matress etc... good luck

theres nothing wrong with bombing your house, just wash everthing, clothes, dishes, table, chairs and everything when u get back to your house. it will kill every last flee. " I KNOW"

but if that doesnt, work for u, my mom uses this Hartz stuff, its the 3 in 1 thing. It works goooooooooood, I was show happy when flees stoped biting me.

Well, if your cat were still alive, I'd suggest garlic in it's food, but I don't know what to tell you. My one friend mixed garlic powder with water, and then sprayed it all around her apartment, but it didn't smell too pleasant. But what's worse, garlic smell, or fleas?

Fleas are very hard to kill, you'll have to use chemicals because it's the only way to kill them AND the eggs.
