I had a quote from a Corgi registered Plumber/Gas Man to fit a new oven and they wanted £150 including VAT (I live in the South of England just in case location has an effect on price). Is that right? That's almost as much as the oven cost!

Do they have to be Corgi registered and is that way I'm getting such a high quote?

Just by visiting B & Q I found out that I can buy a cordless unit with a long attachment with a headtrimmer at the end, or I cna buy a petrol unit with a long attachment too. However, I am not sure which is best or is there another tool. The Llandiis I want to keep capped - the height of a street light. I think that is 12 - 15 feet. The trees are by a road thats why I know they are the height of a street light. Then there is the question of do I need to buy some scaffolding, bearing in mind this will be a job needing doing once every 2 months. If so what is the cheapest to buy and best size.

I don't have a digital camera, so I can't take a picture, but it is easy to describe. I live in Indiana - zone 5, and this flower looks like a big weed-bush, about 4' wide and 4' tall. We were going to cut it down at first, but then it started blooming large 1" yellow flowers only at NIGHT. During the day, the flowers shrivel back up and are done, and new flowers bloom the following evening, around dusk. Any ideas?

I'm looking for a wall-size closet door that pops open with a gentle push through a magnetic device, and the hinges don't show on the outside. I saw it at a friend's house (who sold the house and don't know it's name). The closet looks like the wall from the outside until you push the "wall door" open. Anyone know the name or where to find it?

I want to make a natural tropical high wall, against my 5’5 foot brick wall. I’m looking for more privacy. I have a lot of palm trees, so I was thinking Bamboo. I hear it’s a mess. My question is, is there any type of Bamboo that grows in single uniform? Just like a wall, one after another. Or do they all grow in clusters / groups?

A recent windstorm knocked over our beautiful willow tree. (it'd been poorly pruned and had several, weak trunks.)

1.How fast will a weeping willow tree regrow from the stump?

2. Would the tree be stronger if we just replanted one?

3. We still have a huge stump and a sprout that came out of it--if we cut the stump to the ground, will a willow sprout from it?

We recently moved in a house and the lady before us apparently smoked in it. Even with a fresh paint job in every room of the house, it still smells. What's the best way to rid your home of this awful smell?

My wife and I live in a hot area in Southern California. A friend has told us that if we keep the air conditioning turned on at a preset level that it will cool to that level and then only turn on to maintain that level of coolness instead of working hard to cool an already overly warm house. This will reduce costs in the long run as it would take less energy to keep a house at an already predetermined temperature. Is this so?

I often put my last load of laundry in the washer before I go to bed. If I don't have time to put it in the dryer in the morning, it often smells sour by the time I get home in the evening, and has to be re-washed to get rid of the odor.

Is there a way to prevent this happening?

I've planted six or seven varieties of pepper plants along my fence inside my patio. They're mixed in between my running roses. I have several varieties of peppers all planted in a line along the fence with a rose bush in between every second one. My yield is still small but increasing. The hotter peppers are doing fine. I have Tobasco, Cayenne, Jalapeno, Habanero and hot green peppers. I also have mildly hot Verde peppers and red bells and green bells. Only the green bells are being affected. Every one I have picked when the tops are cut off have had garden slugs inside the peppers and I have had to throw them away. It's only the green bells and they are planted right beside another variety yet they are unharmed. What can I do to rid my peppers of these slugs?
