right now i have carpet and it IS NOT working. i have five big dogs and the carpet is cream; im sure you have a visual now. i watch hgtv alot and id heard about cork. however evrything ive read says that its not very scratch res. or very durable for high traffic ( i.e. big dogs and me- im in a wheelchair that weighs 400 lbs.) so is that true? from your experience is cork the best or should i look for something else? my 2nd choice would be porcelein tile or mabey vynal. i dont know. what would be my best option as far as durability and scratches? thanks alot.

Hi
I moved out of my house 7 days ago. The buyers have complained that the central heating system is faulty, specifically some radiators have cold spots and need bleeding and some of the bleeding screws can't be opened as they have seized up. As far as I knew the heating worked fine when I lived there. The buyer says he is going to contact his solicitor and pursue me for costs. Surely he won't get anywhere with this? I live in England btw!
Thanks!

I'm in the UK, (so not very sunny!), and would like to know how best to care for the new plantlife that I've started. I don't have a garden, only have a few plantpots and some baby-bio plant-food,.. if you have any sound advice on how best to make sure I can keep them alive, strong and so that they can produce fruit, it'd be appreciated, thanks!

I am building a box in the ground and need it water-proof.
Whats the best mixure cement/sand, or should I use concrete?
What differs cement/concrete? And how do you make it strong from cracking without steel enforcement?

I am doing some work on my house to sell it. My bathroom is tiny, only has room (very squeezed in) for a cast iron bath (this is smaller than the average bath size) with shower ober, sink & toilet. When you open bathroom door it hits the toilet!! I need to replace the bath as the enamel is all chipped and stained (asked about re-enamelling but its too far gone!) so I was thinking of having a double shower put in its place. This though would leave the bathroom with no bath. Do you think it would put potential buyers off buying a house with no bath ????

My grandmother is passing on some furniture she has had for at least 30 years. It is wood and it is coated with 30+ years of smoke and dust residue. What is the best way to remove the gunk without stripping the finish. I would prefer not to have to refinish any of it.

Thanks!

We are repointing an old barn wall using traditional Lime (putty) mortar, (not the limed sand/cement mix). The joints need to be flat. Anybody know the traditional method of doing this so we can match it to existing lime mortar?

I live in a 3 bedroom house and have window units in 2 bedrooms (my kids') and the living room. Nothing in my bedroom and I don't want to run them all night anyway. My electric bill would skyrocket! I was wondering if running a humidifier in our rooms at night and turning on the ceiling fan full speed to try and circulate the mist would help cool down the room. Has anyone tried this? Do you think this will work?

About three weeks ago my rose bush (it came with my home when I purchased it two years ago, so it is at least 3 years old; it is about 2 ft in diameter and 3 ft high) budded and bloomed beautifully. Almost immediately, the front half's leaves turned yellow with brown spots, the blooms fell off, the leaves then fell, and the branches turned dark brown. The back half seemed unphased, but this week, it too started the same disintergration. No other plants around the rose seem impacted and I want to keep it that way. I water regularly and it gets great sun. This did not happen last year and nothing has changed regarding light or soil. I hope answers include remedies--that is I hope there is a remedy (the more natural the better) and that you kind folk inform me of what to do to save this great plant. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does a person do when some of the plugs are not grounded (house is from the 1956 era)... Some have been updated, some not. Then there are these horrible traverse lights that are in most rooms. If an electrician is needed, about how much are they going to charge to change out most lights and plug outlets in a 2000 sq foot house? I can buy the lights at Home Depot, or Lowes, but I don't have any idea of how to change them out from the old to the new...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I live in Palmer, Alaska. I've never see this kind of bug before. I first noticed it when i felt a "pinch" or "sting" on my forearm. I looked down to see this fellow. My fiance' was putting together a garden cart that was made in China. My first thought was it came outta the box. I ran inside to get my camera to snap a picture before he crawled away. It's size is approx a 1/4 inch in length and travels quite fast. The spot on my arm where it either pinched or bit me is about the size of a pimple, red and raised up. It itched at first, although after a few seconds, maybe a minute, it quit. However the lump is still there. Need i be worried? What is this bug? Is it from China? The picture coloring didnt show the gradual color change in its body. It went from a brownish color on the upper portion to a orangish near its tail, which came to sharp point. See a pic here @ photobucket http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a189/angel_uv_hope/IMG_1194_1.jpg

The past few days I've noticed a few flying bug things, and it's getting worse. In my kitchen and bathroom. They are the size of a flea, but they are light brown and fly around.

I have dogs and a cat. I never leave food out. I also never leave doors or windows open.

What is this? Would defogger work or would it just temporarily fix the problem?
