I believe a refrigerator should be a part of rent and I didn't brake it. It wasn't new when I moved into the apartment any way. Charging additional $10 per month to a tenant due to replace a broken refrigerator is legal in New York City?

Just today I was in the shower and a loud noise (like a long rattling) occured followed by the shower pressure dropping. I turned off the water and started it up again and it went away. However, it happened again when my wife went in this evening. What is going on?

I live in a tropical country. I noticed that around this time of the year (when the rains are heavier), there is a peculiar and rather loud and intermittent tapping sound coming from my window type air conditioner (which is about 4 years old already). Once I start using it, the sound becomes less frequent after an hour of operation (and may sometimes disappear). But the tapping sounds come back around 30 minutes after I turn it off. What I find even stranger is the fact that it totally disappears around November onwards.

I find the tapping sound rather disturbing (especially at night). I have tried having maintenance guys check it out and they say that the unit is in good condition. Is there something wrong with my air conditioning unit or is this normal?

As soon as I turn on the cooling, the outdoor unit starts running but very slow, not at its full speed. In the mean time, the unit is making an exceptional noise, it also becomes very hot in less than 30 seconds after it was turned on. After running for 5 minutes, the fan completely stops, but the noise continues on until I turn off the cooling on the thermostat.

Had the AC company come, replaced a bad capacitor and washed the cooling coil. but the problem still remains. What can be wrong and is it fixable. The unit (Trane) is 12 year old by the way.

I had a problem a few months ago where the lights would dim each time you used an appliance eg; washing machine...... The guy from the power company came out and fixed it and it worked perfectly no problems till a light bulb in the kitchen exploded and shattered everywhere. It has happened 2 more times in the kitchen and once in the laundry area.

The bulbs I use are 75watt and the power company sent a guy out today and he said the power supply is within normal limits and blames it on the bulbs. I don't know what else to do as it is so dangerous and I can't risk my kids getting hurt.

What can I do?

I have 2 small holes about the diameter of a golf ball and I've also got a larger one near one of the small ones. This one is about the diameter of a grapefruit and appears to have gotten bigger over the last few days. I think the smaller ones may be from moles but what would make the large hole?

I live in Illinois and just moved in to a new house with a big brick flower box that was full of weeds. Is it too late to plant flowers? It's a large space, so I need something that is on the larger side and that will grow fast.

My soil is mostly sandy. I have amended the soil with amonium sulfate. The vine looked great, then after over 2" of rainfall in one evening, the leaves turned yellow, wilted with the sunshine & the pumpkin got soft & brown.
