Can you blow the dirt out with compressed air? It would avoid using water and any risk of rusting or warping of the wood parts. Even though the blades of the knife are stainless, often the springy metal parts at the back of the knife are not!

It is stainless (rustfrei), so water will not hurt the metal. Your concern is the wood cover, if in fact it is wood and not plastic. You can wash it in the sink with dish soap and a good scrub brush. Dry the wood off well with a towel, and treat with oil. A high-quality cooking oil will work, olive oil or other fine oil. Slather it on, then let it sit for a bit, then dry off well with paper towels. Dirt will stick to the oil, so you will want to get as much off as possible.

You can run it under water to clean it out, yes, but the key is to make sure you dry it very well so it won't rust. Probably wouldn't hurt once it is dry, too, to give it a shot of a spray lubricant to keep it moving smoothly and keep the rust problem down.

RInse with warm water then dry. Spray with a lubricant and then get a Q-tip and run it through the small crevices. If you still see water you can use a blow dryer.

Yes but then spray it down with WD-40 or LDS to displace the water.
