10 x 12 x 0.5 = 60 cu feet / 27 = 2.222 cu yds

I would order 2 1/2 yards.

3 feet long x 3 feet wide = 9 square feet
3 feet long x 3 feet wide x 3 feet deep = 27 cubic feet
There are 9 square feet in a square yard, but 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. Concrete is ordered by cubic yard, so we must divide by 27, not 9.
