electric sharpener... we purchased one from Chef Mate.. & it's really good even tho' my hubby knows how to sharpen knives. But if u can't afford that... then a "steel". it's better than nothing.

A lot of times it's just that the blade isn't true. Meaning... it's still sharp but the blade is just a little bent in some places. You can pick one up at almost anywhere that sells knives.

I would do anything more to your knives then that... I would just find a place that does blade sharpening... It's not too expensive and it's a lot safer.

I also don't recommend you use an electric sharpener... sure it gets them sharp. But your blade won't hold sharp for more than a few cuts and will eventually breakdown the metal.
