The past few days I've noticed a few flying bug things, and it's getting worse. In my kitchen and bathroom. They are the size of a flea, but they are light brown and fly around.

I have dogs and a cat. I never leave food out. I also never leave doors or windows open.

What is this? Would defogger work or would it just temporarily fix the problem?

Correction... I do leave dry food out for my animals, but these insects don't seem interested in it.

I went in to spray them with bleach water, febreze and disinfectant. It's barely affecting them. They are attracted to the light.

Do you have plants? I get the same "type" of bugs with some of my plants. I took them outside and re-planted them into another pot w/ different soil and it went away. Also bananas... My son is addicted to bananas, and they attract them. AKA Fruit flies.

You can try different sprays on the market, but they might not work. It all depends on what kind of bug they are. If they are fleas from your pets, most likely you will need to get an exterminator to spray the entire house. Those little suckers can survive most sprays that are bought in stores. An exterminator really isn't that expensive, especially when it comes to your peace of mind. One year , after just buying our dream home, there were some sort of ant looking bug falling out of our oak ceiling. Here they were breeder ants. Nothing we could have done about them ourselves, the exterminator had to come in and spray. We haven't had them since. Living way out in the country we have experienced all sorts of bugs and spiders, so we have our house professionally sprayed every spring and fall. That has taken care of all our bug problems. Hope this has helped.

Either gnats or fruit flies - similar little buggers, and I hate them, very annoying, they are. A "fogger" will work but you have to remove your animals, all food must be stored away (nothing sitting out on your counters, etc.) before you set them off. Then you have to leave the house for a couple of hours (read the instructions for how long). Then you have to wipe all services (table tops, kitchen counters, etc.) with something appropriate for cleaning these services. If they are gnats, try sitting out a little bit of wine in a glass in a couple of places. They like it and will die in it.
You should also spray around your doors and windows. They get in everytime you open a door to go in or out or let your animals out.

sounds like gnats...they are annoying little things and they seem to populate really fast. i dont know if i would use a fogger because of your pets. they usually hang around places where food is left out. you should check your kitchen to see if you have any fruit out. you could also look on line for some home made fruit fly remedies sometimes those help.

your probably talking about fruit flies, my uncle has MILLIONS of these stowed inside his house plus regular flies who are annoying as anything! >_<
You could spray them y'know or clean up after everything meals and all, also they could be coming in from the doors although u do not know it, check to see if your doors have slight openings under them or above and block them also instal screens so its hrder for some to get in

They sound like the type of knats that like fruit. Check your fruit bowl or garbage.
