If you have access to horse chestnuts. In the fall when they fall off the tree. Get yourself an ice cream bucket full. Place a hand full under your couch, lounge chairs and other furniture in your living room. Same goes for the bedroom. Under the bed and everywhere possible. I have found that by doing this little chore, it seems to keep spiders to a very minimum throughout the house. Have been doing this for years.
Good luck
