My husband and I have been working for about two weeks trying to save an old hard wood oak floor in a house we just bought. First the previous owners GLUED a carpet on the wood floors so we had to scrap all the glue up and we sanded, sanded and sanded some more. We finally got the base coat of polyurethane down and I think two more coats of Minwax Polyurethane for floors down. We got to the step where we are supposed to sand the floor a little before we apply the third coat. As we were sanding the polyurethane started peeling off the floor!!!! My husband had a big ball of it in his hand that he had pulled up off the floor. Why did this happen and how can we stop it and save all of our hard work? We decided heck with the sanding and heck with the 3rd coat and just reaplied poly in the section that peeled off and left it for the night. Was this the right thing to do? It has been very humid up here in Pa the past few days so we thought maybe it wasn't drying correctly. Thanks for any help

I have a cotton/rayon cream colored shirt that i barely got a grease smudge on. I am told that dish soap works the best but the pink dawn essentials (which is waht i have) will not work. Only the blue works. Is this true?

Okay....I was cleaning my s.s. fridge last week and now it looks like CRAP! :( Someone told me that I could use glass cleaner on it and I did---Bad idea. :(

There were so many fingerprints (I have 4 kids) and also water drippings (it has a water/ice dispenser that goes everywhere when you use it) all over the front that I started spraying generic (Wal*Mart brand) Glass Plus on a paper towel and then wiping it.

Well, one of the kids started talking to me, I became distracted and I sprayed the glass cleaner DIRECTLY on the fridge in 2 spots! Now, you can see the 'starburst' pattern from the sprays and also where the cleaner ran down the door..... Ugh! It looks awful!!

I have tried using vinegar, dish soap and water, glass cleaner again---This time ONLY on the paper towel.....But, to NO AVAIL.

Is my fridge going to look like this forever? Or is there hope?

Thanks in advance,
Karen

For those who have or have had a whirlpool tub only please. What kind so you have? Do you like it? Are they hard to keep clean? Expensive to run? Trying to decide whether to get one or a big tub without the jets.
Thanks

The house we are considering has a formal dining room and we don't feel the need to have a formal dining area. What else can we do with that area? It is not closed in. It is open on 2 sides and the other 2 sides are walls. It is to the right as you walk in the main entrance of the house. Thanks, we're open to any suggestions.

I live in Florida, so central AC is a must! My home is approximately 1300 square feet.

I have central air conditioning but the two farthest rooms in the house are usually warm while the rest of the house is cool. What can I do to ensure that all rooms are cooled evenly?

There is an area on the side of my house that has lost its natural color due to my lawn sprinkler. I want to match as close as possible the color of the sourounding shingles so it will blend in. Prior to this, a bush covered the area but I am going to remove it. The shingles have never been treated and have been alowed to weather. What can I do?

Do i need to tell my property management I'm going to fog my place for fleas? I already had them send in an exterminator, but I still have fleas. Is the Raid fogger safe to use even though I have gas stovetops?

The outside A/C unit is no longer good in my house -- I already had 3 service technicians come and look at it, and all told me that because the unit is almost 30 years old, and the leak is nearly impossible to detect, it would be best to replace the unit from a 3 ton to a 4 ton (my house is 2200+ sq. ft).

NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION ...
Would I be able to run the gas furnace in the winter yet the A/C condenser is "unservicable"?

The reason I am asking this right now is so I can plan ahead for the winter months -- BTW I live in Houston, TX.
