I have just bought a house and some of the colors in it are awful. One room is the sun room and the other is the bathroom.

I live in zone 5 and I would like to get a few small flowering evergreen shrubs. I don't want them to get any bigger than 3' in diameter. I would like to shape them but that is not an issue.

I just want flowers during the warm weather months and to keep some type of foliage during the winter season.

I have a few ideas but I am hoping to look into more.

PS. I have really got my eye on the scarlet wonder rhododendren but I cannot find anyone who sells it. I would love any leads to that.

thanks for anything.

First time I saw it I was half asleep and it ran in front of me toward some cabinets. I checked, and there was no hole so I'm not sure where it went. Second time it ran across my counter and into a vent on my stove. I never really got a good look at it because it was so quick. I sort of seen it out the corner of my eye twice. It was like a blur. It's not that big, because he easily darted into this small vent on my stove. I still wouldn't believe it was true, but recently it nibbled on a M & M's package that was sitting on my microwave and the packing to a loaf of bread. I have the poison traps, to which it apears he has eaten a few times and he's still alive. I have tried the glue traps, which have failed. I can't get a cat, because I have a 14 month old American Bulldog. Besides this thing is so quick and nibble a cat would have a hard time catching it.

Its is the size of a baseball, white, it has NO roots or anything like that, it has an onion smell too it, and when I cracked it open, it almost looked like snot came out of it. Ive lived in my home in rural NE for 4 yrs now, and nothing like this has EVER grown in my yard, nor have I planted anything like this, it is between a lilac bush and an old tree that was cut down about 1.5 yrs ago. Can anyone give me even a clue to what this might be?

What is more efficient? Hot water from water heater at 120 F - 140 F, then heating to boiling point. Or, heating water on stove from room temperature to boiling point. There are a lot of variables on this one. I imagine there will be many different answers.

We have historic finish on our trim throughout the house. I have lines where I painted as well as specks. I have tried using steel wool and oil soap, but it takes off some of the finish as well when rubbing.

I also have floors where there are old paint specks/spots from the previous owner left on the floor and need to remove those as well.

Looking for ideas...

I need to switch off the water supply to my upstairs shower, its a wall mounted mixer shower with one tap for the pressure and one tap for the temperature. There is no way of getting to the pipes without taking down the tiles!

Downstairs is a combi boiler that has about 6 pipes coming out of the bottom. There are silver screw heads coming out of these pipes which do not seem to stop the water at all when turned....

There is no plumbing under the sink except for the sink taps..

Any help would really be appreciated here!

I have an adenium and suddenly a big hairy caterpillar came to its current place. How to keep it out? Spray it with insecticide? Because its current place is the best place to get much sunlight, I don't have any other choices.

There are a couple fire ant mounds around my pond. It's a small pond (200 gal) and I have goldfish in the pond. I don't want to use any chemicals because it would end up going into the water and kill the fish.

I have several healthy strawberry plants this year. But every time I walk out to check them, the berries that were almost ripe have bites taken out of them. The area is fenced in, so I know it's not rabbits. I am pretty sure that the damage is caused by squirrels. But I also have a lot of birds around my house as well; I'm not sure if they could be responsible or not. I just wanted to know what to do about the squirrels or birds if they could be causing the problem. Any advice will be helpful.

Thanks.

I'm redoing my kitchen with new cabinets and new flooring. The problem is that I have conflicting information on what should come first, lay the laminate floors down and then the cabinets.. or put the new cabinets down and then the flooring. The idea is with putting the floor down first, it will look clean under the cabinets. But I've been told if you put the flooring down first, the floor won't float and then you'll have creaking. Any thoughts? Please only people who work in that industry, no guessing with opinions...
