My local council is advertising composting bins for £8, with a statement " suggested retail price £40" as these bins look a bit like plastic dustbins that cost £6 in a local shop, is there any reason for not using a plastic dustbin for composting purposes? Also the suggested retail of £40 must be a con!

The condenser runs non-stop even after the thermostat reaches desired temperature, and shuts off the fan. At that point I have to shut the system off at the breaker.

Any ideas how I might be able to get the condenser to work in sync with the thermostat?

You should know that this wasn't a problem until I had to have my brainbox replaced due to rain water shorting the old box.

After the fledgling hvac graduate replaced the brainbox, this issue occured. He doesn't readily know why this is happening and it's like pulling teeth to get this guy to come back. So if I can fix it, I will try.

I fry less and less these days, yet this film seems to get worse. Are we just getting more picky about cleanliness? I find food smells in the house revolting now (bacon definitely out, though I love the taste), though in the past they were just a part of comforting home atmosphere.

So I am not to sure how to work the A/C but I set it to 75
degrees on automatic, cool and it came on though it said that it is 71 degrees in this house. I put it above 75 and it goes off. But if I keep it below 75 the A/C goes on and I think it stays on for at least a few hours(i've never heard/felt it cut off). So anyway how would I go about keeping at a constant Temp. 70 degrees on automatic. How do I set it? Am I suppose to set the a/c on what I want the Temp. of the house to be?

Sory, I seem to have been less than clea with my question about some of my doors not shutting properly. It's not that the doors won't fit into the frame due to swelling etc, but that the catch on the foor doesn't snap shut into the lock part on the frame. Either the lock part is now not aligned properly with the lock part on the frame or the edge of the door is away from the fame so the catch won't reach, in one case by about 1cm. The door fames go up to the ceiling as there is a glass pane above a normal height door. A few upstaris have a thin crack horizontally at the top of the frame. Thanks.

I saw a few mice or rats in my backyard. I'm not an expert, so I don't know exactly what it was, but it looked about 7-8 inches long. I want to get rid of them, and I don't care if my ways are humane or not. I'm disgusted by them however, so a trap would be least preferable option since it will require handling of the rodents. Is there something I could use, either something smelly or a high-pitched sound generator of some sort that would drive them away? I don't have any other pets, so interference of the signal with pets is irrelevant.

The ph is good but the chlorine and bromine reading are orange, which I'm assuming is bad. It has been shocked twice in two weeks, clarifier and algea stop added and still it is murky and light green. Is there anything else I can do with this?

If the price was reasonable, would you buy a roomba robotic vacuum?

I'm considering it b/c I live with two guys who aren't clean people. One works in a stable with horses and brings home alot of straw and dirt and the other works 12-15 hours a day, and doesn't clean up after himself besides doing dishes and laundry once in a while.
I don't mind being the person who has to clean alot of the time, but I do hate vacuuming.

Under circumstances like that would you buy one? I'm leaning towards yes.

Instead of having to put down that board on top of the wood, Home Depot said I could use the flexible thinset as it would give enough to handle the wood expanding and contracting. Thoughts?

You know the kind, the cabinet gets all warped and the lining is raggy from some mishap like the dishwasher drain hose disconnecting from the drain pipe.
It's how it was when I moved in. It's dry, no mold, just annoying for me because I want to make the house as "perfect" as possible and the warping makes some of the things I store under there tip over. Clutter-y
Any ideas to fix this?
Is there a way to fix it so if there's another mishap it doesn't warp my cabinet?

My husband and I have been looking for a house in our area to buy for the past 3-4 months and haven't found anything worth while. and fankly i'm getting impatient. we are currently living with his parents with our 15 month old son (he recently broke his leg and was off work for 6months--so we had no source of income to stay on our own) We are both ready to get back out on our own. there was a small trailor came up for sale in our area... and i thought about buying the trailor, tearing it down, and replacing it with a nice modular home... does anybody know about what it would cost since all of the utilities are already in place??
