Well as an appliance repair tech I've worked on many washers and dryers. I prefer kenmore or Whirlpool which are the exact same just name is different. Also maytag has been bought by kenmore so it will be a kenmore with maytag name. the old belt drives were very reliable but stay away from them and also maytags before kenmore bought them and GE. I really like toploads over frontloads. Also i am dissapointed with the new Oasis by kenmore stay away....My favs are kenmore direct drive 80 or 90 series but they dont make them anymore....

The old Maytag appliances were work horsesd. That is not the case anymore. I bought a very expensive Neptune washer and dryer set, and gave them away after 2 years due to terrible mildew problems that Maytag could never fix, with a charge to me every time. They do not stand behind their products. I replaced them with top of the line Kemore's and they are awesome. Sears always stands behind their products.I have the front loaders and I wouldn't ever consider another brand again!

When we had our house we had a Maytag Washer Heavy Duty and a Kitchen Aid Heavy Duty dryer - LOVED THEM! My Maytag was over 10 yrs old and never needed a service call. Neither did my Kitchen Aid Dryer and it left almost zero wrinkles in our dress clothes.

We have since moved and had GE appliances in this unit....which we don't like bc they are noisy, cheap and leave tons of wrinkles in the clothes. IMO GE sucks.

Can't wait to see what other answers you get because I can only find Tide HE at the store. I have been using Purex in a washer that says "use only HE detergent".

Whirlpool is the bomb! Got a washer and dryer a few months ago - great products!

Whirlpool. They still last just about forever. Avoid Maytag - they've had some major quality problems in recent years.

I go for the cheapest but the best features..
sometimes the name brands are overpriced and do the
same things that a normal one would..
So check out others and compare
