Our house has a patio deck off of second floor. The floor surface appears to be standard asphalt/roof paper construction with sand-like coating. It looks to be in good condition but needs a coat of paint. Is there a paint or resurfacing material which I can buy and apply myself? Does anyone have experience with this type of project and what do you recommend? Need to get this done in a day... Thanks

I just bought a house. The previous owner left a pile of lime right on the base of a tree. I will be removing the lime asap. It looks as though it has been there maybe 6 months to a year. What can I do to help the tree? The top canopy is not producing leaves.

I'm starting this little group with some of my friends. just like the midnight society from are you afraid of the dark. I have everything setup, but I need a type of dust that changes the color of the flames for when we start the stories? it has to be something cheap, safe and can be bought at ace hardware.

As I hope responsible landlords, we wish to put the fabric of the property back in good order and then sue the management company for the costs of the repairs that they have not done. Can we add a premium to our claim to cover our time and incidental costs.

I am planning on planting a veggie graden. Tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, squish, and zuccini. What is the best time of year to plant them and can I do it all at once?

I used to always throw all whites into one load with hot water and sometimes bleach without thinking about what was in there. After I read an article containing a reader's comment about this, I get grossed out whenever I think about it!

I recently put up a new fence. And i have had it blow down twice in the last two months since i set it up. The concrete mix im using doesnt seem to be setting up right. The post is very loose after i set it. Also i live in KY and the ground is very rocky and a clay like material. I was wondering if it would help the concrete settle by drilling 3/8" holes in the post and putting 2' rebar in the post in the ground. Or if i should use a quick setting concrete.

If I want to remover shower knobs, spout, etc, so I can tile the tub surround, is it necessary to shut off the water at the meter? I removed the cap and took the screw out, but now what do I do? Does the knob just pull straight out?

Basement can get wet during rainy season. (Working on that) Also may have asbestos so we do not want to disturb it at all. Will be puttin small area rugs in to soften it up. Approx 1000 sq ft.

Okay, so I thought I was creating a country french provencal kitchen...pale yellow walls, white ceilings, white cabinets. The accessories would be stone blue, and the window coverings, yellow and blue floral. The appliances are all stainless steel...

NOW, I've introduced terra cotta to the floors and the backsplash, with a touch of blue in the odd tile in the backsplash. It feels more mediterranean now...and I still want to get the country feel. Please help....I'm getting a little discouraged...straying from my original plan, and needing to bring the country warmth back. The ordering has all been done...so now it will have to be warmed up with accessories...Any suggestions?

I have been offered a landscaping job but have never participated in a project of this size. Anyone know if there is an average price per hour that most landscapers will charge? How can I determine how much I should charge if I want to be fair, but of course, be able to get reimbursed for the work? The job consists of pulling out and clearing some existing garden areas, replanting new plants, flowers etc and then mulching the existing areas around new plants.

Could anyone offer suggestions as in what to look for and what to avoid when buying pans. I'm not much of a chef or anything, but I like to make informed purchases and I value quality, but can't swing calphalon or anything like that. Thanks.

It survived the winter, its quite large. We dug it up and are planting flowers. We do not wish to replant the rosemary so what can we do with the herb? Can we clip it hang it and dry it? Can we then use it for cooking or is it better fresh? Will it dry ok hanging up? I hate to just throw it away.

Specifically I want to grow trees and shrubs that appeal to birds, butterflies and other wildlife. I need recommendations on what to plant (I live in Kansas) and any opinion as to if there would be a decent market for this type of specialty nursery.

Hi, I am planning on painting my kitchen cabinets white, but am unsure of what color white I should use. I hope to paint the walls a neutral off-white color also, but with sections under my chair-rail in the adjacent dining area and the soffet over my cabinets in sage. The trim will be bright white and I hope to eventually install an oak floor, tropical brown granite countertops, and I will be updating the cabinet hardware with satin nickel. The appliances will be a combo of black and stainless. Appreciate any cabinet and neutral wall color suggestions that work with this. Thanks!
