Okay, so I thought I was creating a country french provencal kitchen...pale yellow walls, white ceilings, white cabinets. The accessories would be stone blue, and the window coverings, yellow and blue floral. The appliances are all stainless steel...

NOW, I've introduced terra cotta to the floors and the backsplash, with a touch of blue in the odd tile in the backsplash. It feels more mediterranean now...and I still want to get the country feel. Please help....I'm getting a little discouraged...straying from my original plan, and needing to bring the country warmth back. The ordering has all been done...so now it will have to be warmed up with accessories...Any suggestions?

I would also try to find some throw rugs that would tone down the terra cotta of the floors and enhance the yellows and blues of the room. Sounds like a gorgeous room. Good luck!

Can you add some toile? Perhaps in the window coverings?
I've also seen shadow boxes with a fiber board insert covered in toile, leaving the shadow boxes uncovered. Even in the handtowels if your window covering is already ordered..

Do you have your hardware for the cabinets yet? A rusted metal would look nice I think. Modern Masters makes a faux rust product that is EXCELLENT and VERY EASY to do.

And/or ...how about a single glaze application on the walls? Something to age the walls.....

old style country kitchen net curtains? The kind that go on a pole and run half way down the middle of the window, the cottage style? Or some cottage style drapes, little ones that tie back? Or some old fashioned pots and pans and cooking implements? What about a range cooker, the old type?
Hope those sugestions have heped a bit :)

Don't worry. You can still pull it off! Just go for it and accent with pictures (white frames would look great). Use some throw rugs and cute material for the window treatments. Its sounds just like my kitchen w/o the terra cotta!!!!!!
Good Luck!!!

Toss in some grape accents to bring back more French flavour..Also I've people paint words on walls..
So you could add some words somewhere on your walls...
Such as Cafe or Mange (french for eat)..(pronounced Monjay)
I've seen people use old window frames as mirror frames for that country feel...Old milk cans in a corner filled with some type of flower.....

Do you have room for some art ? Start with a print or to of some of the Frenchies and find one you like. Also get some of the glasses that have bees blown them(they are part of the glass) not painted.
