I used to always throw all whites into one load with hot water and sometimes bleach without thinking about what was in there. After I read an article containing a reader's comment about this, I get grossed out whenever I think about it!

I wash my dish clothes with the bath towels....isn't that still sorta the same thing?
You gotta wipe ur butt with the bath towel when you get out the shower! Sure you're clean.....your still wiping your butt!

If you're doing your laundry right then it should be clean and you shouldn't have anything else to worry about!

Please provide more information. Are you concerned about transferring something from the dishcloth to the underwear, or something from the underwear to the dishcloth?

Either way, the whole concept of "doing laundry" is that anything washed comes out clean. All the bacteria and dirt and germs are supposed to be lifted out by the soap, killed by the hot water and bleach, and rinsed away down the drain.

If that's not happening to your undies or your dishtowels, separating them into different loads isn't going to solve your problem, because you probably only have one machine anyway, or if you go to a laundromat, how do you know the person before you didn't mix the two in that machine?

If this really bothers you, you need to just only wear clothes once and use only disposable paper towels.

And this is from "a reader's comment"? You could at least wait till a credible scientist like Al Gore gets worked up about it.

I don't hesitate to wash these sorts of things together. The key to a truly clean wash is to make sure you don't pack too many clothes in there with each other, to make sure not to use too much laundry detergent, and to ensure that the water temperature is high enough to provide for good cleaning.
