I keep a burn pit for weeds tumble weeds and brush that gets over grown on my property. my mother told me to mix the ash from my burn pit with the soil for my garden, saying it'll make the plants healthy. i admit, i've never grown a garden on my own before.
but i thought the ash would kill anything that tried to grow there.. any insights?

We ripped up the carpeting in the hallway to expose the hardwood floor, but where it meets the kitchen is higher. The previous owners put a padding and new linoleum (sp?) over the old stuff and so it is higher then the hallway floor. So any suggestions would be great! TIA!

when i was in elementary school(4th grade) we grew a coconut throughout the whole school year. our teacher didnt plant it in any soil or anything of that nature. instead, she just placed it in a clear square glass dish with water. the coconut was submerged in water half way up. out of the pointy side, over time, it auctually started to grow a branch like thing. eventually even two really big leaves started to come out. at the end of the year i won the raffel and got to take the growing coconut home(which my friends and i broke on the street curb as soon as the bell rang). my question is, was that some sort of special coconut? or was it one that i could just buy at a grocery store and do ths? sorry if this sounds stupid. but im just not sure. to me i think i need to get a sp;ecial coconut from some place. it seems like an egg... you cant hatch an egg thats bought from stop and shop.. but can you grow a coconut that you bought there?

The paint is chipping from the bottom of my 2 year old microwave. The store will not accept responsibility and neither will the manufacturer so my question now is.... Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Or do I really have to throw it into the garbage and buy a new one this weekend?!?!?! Slighltly irritating considering the rest of it is in perfect condition.

I've been trying to plant on clay soil but my plants always die and basically won't survive no matter how much fertilizer I put. I know there is something that I need to mix with clay soil to make it a healthy soil. I tried compost and those expensive gardening soil but it seem like it's not enough. I've already spent a lot of money on plants because they keep dying on me. What am I suppose to do? I need help? Thanks. Ann

Hi, recently at my house i kind of fell through the door and the part where the door latches is cracked and it's a big one. The metal part where it latches into is gone and is on the floor now. The door frame i think is broken and i was wondering how much it would cost to fix it myself. I forgot to mention it's an indoor door.

Why do they use cow manure? I recall that they don't use horse manure coz horses are too nervous. Or is it coz the feed is processed better through all the cows tummies? Therefore less weeds etc.
