The paint is chipping from the bottom of my 2 year old microwave. The store will not accept responsibility and neither will the manufacturer so my question now is.... Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Or do I really have to throw it into the garbage and buy a new one this weekend?!?!?! Slighltly irritating considering the rest of it is in perfect condition.

By the way, I mean the bottom of the INSIDE of my microwave. Im worried about the exposed metal that is now appearing. It is getting excessively worse. I would not be so vain as to want to replace a microwave when the paint on the outside is chipping.

$39 for a new one...not worth the frustration....you have my permission to buy another one....just keep the receipt (standard 1 year warranty) refuse the extended warranty (rip off) and buy a different brand next time....best of luck
Also, donate your former microwave to the Salvation army and write that thing off your taxes....or give it to a poor college student who wouldn't care.

Do you know why its chipping? Was it subject to water damage? Well i think if that area isnt where the heat is then you should be able to sand lightly removing the damaged paint and cracking and then primer and paint. Usually those durable exterior furniture type spray paints can work best for small touch up work. Just tape off the other areas where the aerosol may push to, keep in concentrated area. Good luck...

I wouldn't worry about it if it's still functional. It's only paint on the bottom of the microwave (unless you really wanted an excuse to go out and buy a new microwave).

If it works why throw it out? Buy some touch up paint and hit the chipped areas with a fresh coat.

I'm not sure, but I wonder if touchup paint would cook!!!.....it's not the same as factory baked on finish. You might be able to find a small glass cutting board type thingie that you could put on the bottom.......or.......as suggested by other responders......get yourself a new one
good luck

Microwaves are SO inexpensive now. I'd just get another one. You can usually grab one on sale for about $40.

Paint it! A can of Krylon indoor paint costs a buck at Wal-mart.

do you NEED to toss it because the paint is chipping? :)
put a sticker on it or something....
Unless you're obsessive... then yes.. you need to toss it and get a brand new perfect one :)
