We are widening our countertops and there is a window that hangs approximately three inches below the counter. Instead of lifting the entire window up, estimated cost $500/$800, can we just raise the height of the windowsill?

Last summer, moles devastated it. The lawn has numerous holes and bare spots and it is really soft underneath. You walk on it, and it feels like you are sinking. How do we fix this?

Also, a couple of years ago, we redid the whole lawn (roter tilled, new soil, new seed). But we did not do a good job. The lawn is not flat and is uneven with lots of bumps. How can we fix this?

I am looking for creative solutions. We do not really have the resources to redo the lawn again at this time. I just want it to be safe for the kids to run around in the summer.

Thanks!!

I have two new pair of Gary Player slacks - comfortable trousers, which are tagged 'machine was warm, tumble dry medium, warm iron when needed'. Previous pairs of this brand shrank slightly with repeated washings and dryings, even though I followed the label directions

I would like these slacks to last longer, hence the question - can 100% cotton be dry cleaned, or will there be problems by exposing it to a dry cleaning colution?

Thanks,

what are the best plants to plant all year around I love greens and flowers My patio get some sun in the after noon and early mornings rest of the day its shaded . before the spring starts I want to start planting. I use moisture control potting mix. Any suggestions how to save my plants from dieing and keep them fresh all year round . I would also like to plant some fruits and vegetables which can grow in pots and what kind .
Moreover all my pots are made of clay and some are plastic and ceramic. which are best for best air circulation and I use plastic sheets at the bottom of my pots so my potting mix do not flow out when I water them. I also have some decorative metal pots how do I plant in them they are like nets. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated. thank you .

My flat is very dump. There is no extractor fan in kitchen and bathroom, but i open windows when cooking or bathing to avoid ammassing of steam. in the corner room, furtherst from kitchen and bathroom i noticed a mould (black) and some white patches on the outside wall above window. Mould is in corners, spreding along top of wall where it connects w/ceiling. Also floor is dumpish and causes carpet to rot. another room had round black huge spots on the wall around window (from inside). i washed them before realising it maight have been mould as well. was it though? was it caused by condensdation only? or leak from terrace upstairs? how can i get rid of those problems permanently? please help

Hi

I live in a basement with very little natural light, fairly low temperatures (although never too cold) and with above average humidity....

Is there a plant on earth that would survive this?

Ideally I want a plant for my bathroom window-ledge (a tiny bit of natural light comes in here, but the bathroom is usually the coldest and dampest) and one for my living room (no light at all but usually kept at a reasonable temp) and one for my office (there is a bigger window here).

I first joined Yahoo! Answers in December to try and save my Aloe Vera from extinction but sadly I was too late....

We have a name that needs to be removed from a veterans memorial marker. It is grey granite, the name is in black. We do not want it carved or blasted out. Is there another way to remove the name or cover it so that it won't be so obvious?

This question is for people who have owned or now own a kirby vacuum. My mom had one when I was a kid and she loved it.

Kirby Vacuums, are they worth the money? Should I keep it or return it? I got it for a huge discount ($2k vac for $1300) Afraid hubby is gonna freak out. Do I bite the bullet and tell him I bought it and I need it or just return it quietly and hope he doesn't notice?

For the record, it's their new one that is a vac, shampooer, leaf blower, air compressor, plunger, sander, etc. It really would cost me much more to buy everything separately... and no, we actually have no carpet (with the exception of rugs), but this works on hardwoods and tile too.
