We have a name that needs to be removed from a veterans memorial marker. It is grey granite, the name is in black. We do not want it carved or blasted out. Is there another way to remove the name or cover it so that it won't be so obvious?

I don't know the name of the material, but there is a composite filler that you can mix into any color and use it to fill holes in granite. It would require filling the lettering and smoothing it level. Sorry, I can't remember the name of this product, but maybe someone else can supply it for you, or contact granite wholesalers and see if they know what I'm talking about. God Bless, Martha S.

You can have a bronze, wrought iron or mixed metal plaquard made and screwed in to obscure the name. We did something similar and had a very nice saying put on the plaquard so that it did not seem out of place.

Have you tried contacting a granite business?

Could you try filling it in with cement and then sanding it? The colour would probably not match though and it would look like a patch job. If you want it to look like it should, hire a professional to do it.
