No, they are not the same.
Throw blankets are smaller blankets, often in decorative colors and patterns, that can be used for extra warmth outside of bed.
Quilts are a bed covering composed of a quilt top, a layer of batting, and a layer of fabric for backing, generally combined using the technique of quilting. Another technique for securing the quilt layers is tying. Tying refers to the technique of using thread, yarn or ribbon to pass through all three layers of the quilt at reqular intervals. These "ties" hold the layers together during use and especially when the quilt is washed.

A throw is usually smaller and is knitted. Throws are usually used to cover up your legs or to snuggle with if you're chilly while watching TV or reading on a chair or couch.
A quilt is made from sewing pieces of fabric together. Although a quilt can be any size from a few inches for a coaster to a king size bed spread. I suppose you could have a quilt that is used as a throw but the term quilt is used to define the process of how it is made rather than how it is used.

No, a throw is much smaller than a quilt. A throw is meant as something to "throw" over yourself for example - when you're on the sofa watching TV - or something like that. A quilt is big enough for a bed - a throw is not - it's smaller than a twin size blanket.

A quilt is the way something is made. It has absolutely nothing to do with size. Not all throws are quilts, but there are throws that are quilts.

a throw is smaller AND more lightweight. A quilt has 2 layers and filled to be heavy -and they usually last forever. Quilt's top layer is also made of small pieces of material stitched together to make a pattern.

Not really. A throw is usually the same size vertically and horizontally. A quilt is sized according to the bed size.
