My mother bought me a beautiful dining room set for Christmas at a salvage store. Nobody thought to check the boxes, and it turns out that we're missing the center column / pedestal that holds the table up. The discount store has *no idea* what we're talking about. There's no name on the boxes, other than "K/O Furniture", which I have searched for, but found nothing. It was made in the Dominican Republic. Please help!

I have a wool long jacket that I love, that my grandma left to me.... but I cannot get the musty "old lady" smell out of it. I have tried washing it, smoking cigarettes while wearing it, and spraying it down with perfume. It still smells quite funky. Any suggestions?

It's been 4 days and my new bathroom floor tile is still not dry. It's still "quishy" when walked on. It's 8x8 tile in a 25 sq ft bathroom with a cement backerboard underneath. I thought it should have dryed by now, but now I'm starting to worry.

I dug a massive hole in my garden and filled it in with water from a hose. The next day, I woke up and excitedly invited my dad around to my house so he could see my pond.

I was shocked and confused whent the pond had suddenly disapeared and all we saw was a muddy hole. My dad smacked the back of my head and told me that he was ashamed of me. He said I was thick as sh*t, told me that you don't make ponds like that and then he went off for his Sunday dinner without saying goodbye.

So how the hell do you make these garden ponds????????

I'm moving in today and there's a weird 'rotten' or 'rancid' smell in my new apartment -- just in one of the rooms (kitchen/living room with hardwood floors...all 1 room). I've opened up all of the windows, but the stench remains stubborn. Help!

Would you rather have the full package kind of thing (lawn mowing, mulching, trimming, fertilizing, aeration, etc.) for the entire year already planned out and divided into equal payments over 8-9 months or would you rather do everything item by item?

I personally would rather do it item by item, that way I could decide at the time if I want to spend that money or not, but it seems that most people are expecting me to make up a full contract with equal payments for everything, and I dont know why really?

It's a Black and Decker KC 1252, 12volt. I have a similar 18volt drill and I charge them for 8 hours. Does it knacker them up to leave them on charge all the time? Should you completely exhaust the battery before charging it? Come on you battery experts!

I need some fill dirt for my yard. At construction sites, they always have big piles of dirt, some obviously just dug up, but some that looks like "new" dirt. Do they have dirt left over, and if so, do you think they would let me take some if I ask?

I have single glazing and live in a council house. I have been told by a freind that there is a law saying that if you live near a main road, you have to legally have double glazing fitted. Also, do council housing authorities have to legally install double glazing if the tennant has a health problem that is directly affected by not having double glazing?

I just bought some plug-in string lighting at home depot.
Instead of having to plug these in, I would like to wire them to my wall switch which has a dimmer on it.

When I removed the old light from the wall it has 3 wires, black, white and brass. The plug in lights have 2, the "hot" wire and the other one (i have no clue about this stuff)

Any help on making this happen would be great!

Thanks

Has anyone been to a Lowe's or Home Depot How-to-Clinic? Did you find the clinic useful? Was it hands on? Did you feel they taught you enough to do the job yourself? What type of clinic did you attend? Thanks.

Hi. I have some masonry blocks on my house and I would like to refill them in places where it's needed. Problem is I can't figure out what mortar/grout stuff to use, and how do you apply grout to vertical cracks like that?

To me that this is similar to filling in sealant with a gun so I did a search for mortar guns, suprised to find out lowes or home depot didn't sell mortar guns, so how do you guys apply grout to this without a gun, slap in on and clean off the rest? I could just slap it on but it wouldn't come out looking nice and I wouldn't need to ask this of you experts. Advice greatly needed and appreciated. Thanks.

Here are pictures of what I'm talking about.

My position: I am disabled. I don't have the mental or physical presence to do a job by myself. Anyway, I need my one bedroom townhouse thuroghly cleaned, some cleaning due to water damage from broken water heater (now repaired at a high price, in the attic!!) and the rest general dusting sweeping, mopping, dishes, may be some laundry and all over cleaning.
I am out of money and have an appraiser come over to value the house, and he knows about the H2O related damages, that's why I want the re-finance. But still I want the place to look great other than those faults.
Are there groups or listings that do housecleaning, and I could trade something for the service?? I have some nice guitars....or am I under the influence of medication thinking something like this could exist?

Thank you

I recently rented an old rental and discovered that almost all of the outlets were two pronged. The only three pronged outlets are one for the wall AC, one under the sign for the garbage disposal, and one on the kitchen sink counter. It appears to be a GFCI wall plate.

First question: Can I plug a multiple tap device into the kitchen GFCI wall plate, or would this defeat the safety function of the GFCI?

Second question: If install grounding adapters at the two prong plates, would I be able to plug in a multiple prong surge protector power strip? (Let's assume that the test strip shows that the adapter is grounded).

Thank you.

p.s. I realize I may need to call in a qualified electrician to deal with this, but your responses will at least enable me to ask the right questions and have a handle on what I am dealing with.
