I dug a massive hole in my garden and filled it in with water from a hose. The next day, I woke up and excitedly invited my dad around to my house so he could see my pond.

I was shocked and confused whent the pond had suddenly disapeared and all we saw was a muddy hole. My dad smacked the back of my head and told me that he was ashamed of me. He said I was thick as sh*t, told me that you don't make ponds like that and then he went off for his Sunday dinner without saying goodbye.

So how the hell do you make these garden ponds????????

wow ok. Line the base and sides of the hole (once dry) with gravel and then sand. you need some VERY thick (like 45ml) sheetet plastic anchored and supported for this to work. Its essentially a big plastic bag. Once you have it set up, get some decorative work to line the pond and mask the ends of the plastic. Ponds can be a rewarding feature if not a hearty investment. good luck with it.

The way we made ours was to buy a prefab pond (we actually got a good deal on a 6ft diameter by 3ft depth rubber tub for £25.
All you have to do then is get your hole dug, line it with sand place pond it, fill it, place your pebbles, stones and pond plants in, maybe a fountain or water feature, and there we go.

Done mine in a day and surprised the wife who was overjoyed with it.
