If you Wash the sweater by hand , then add 1/4 cup of white vinegar,to the rinse water. This will remove the smell. If you are doing this in a washing machine then add 1/2 cup of white vinegar and them dry on low.

Fresh air and Febreeze would probably do the most good, but storing it (now that it almost Spring) in a air tight bag with some fabric softener sheets pushed into the pockets, into the sleeves, and laid on the inside as you close it up for the winter would probably do the most good. Fresh air is probably the best answer, but I know that it cannot be left hanging around for long periods.

Buy one of the dry cleaning sheets, from the laundry dept of your grocery store and place the wool jacket in a dryer, with the sheet, set at low heat, and allow it to freshen your jacket

I would try taking it to the cleaners to get it dry cleaned, or you could try Febreeze, that works really well with getting odors out of clothing.
