I bought a house with a large tub and can't remove it from the house with tearing out the whole bathroom. The only problem with the tub is that it's 1950's baby blue. I've heard you could hire some one to refinish the the tub. I think they sand-blast it, not sor sure though. Anyway, I just dont know what these people are called? The professional name so I can look one up in the phone book.

I've hit a snag and could really use some help. The pictures on this site show basically my exact latch-style knob:

However between step 4 and 5 they don't show how to get the metal rod out of the middle. I'm afraid of damaging the door at this point if I just start hammering at it. Any help would be most appreciated!

Couldn't find the vegetable in the organic section so bought non-organic and planted its seeds to grow at home. Might there be any residual effect from possible use of growth hormone; pesticides; etc.?

I always just wash our white socks with the other white clothing and throw them in the dryer. I know that my grandmother used to scrub the socks by hand and hang them in the sun, but I just don't have the time for all that. Also, I almost never use any kind of bleach because I'm afraid it will wear down the fabric.
Is it wrong for me not to be worried about how white our socks are?

By the way, it's a looong story as to why I'm asking and that would have to be submitted under a whole different category. ;)

It is a beautiful Kradenza, and I am almost sure it is oak. It cherry wood in color. My dog jumped up and clawed the top of it, kinda deep, but not real bad. It looks terrible. How can I repair this damage and refurbish the old look???. Its probably a piece from the 1960's or 1970's.. It was left to me from my boss that passed away.

I work as a waitress in a restaurant, and every night come home smelling horrible. Usually a shower gets rid of the smell, but my hands still smell terrible afterward. Even after washing them a million times with all kinds of soap, they still smell. I've tried lemon too, but it didn't do much either.

What will get rid of the smell?

Okay, I'm a brand new do it myself plumber here. Installing a complex new shower tub faucet. Had 14 soldered joints and connection to make. Got the unit all in and all semmed fine. This until I turned on the uptake shower head. That joint sprayed like a bursted damn. This was my first soldered joint, before I had it down. The outside of the joint features clumpy silver soldering and obviously it did not wick properly into the seams. Can I still finx this where it sits, or do I have to take apart the joint? Can I heat it back up super hot and re-solder it?

Thanks

Ok I have been doing this for a week, I need to know how much sewing machines went for back in 1855 to 1920. I have looked all over including Sears and Roebuck. Does anyone have relatives that are about 100 years old that can help answer that question?
