Ahahaha - I'm sorry, it's not funny that your fork is burnt, but my siblings and I were little hooligans as kids and we played with a LOT of fire. And those forks are still burnt, 15 years later. You could try steel wooling it, if you don't mind taking off a layer of fork, but otherwise... I'm sorry. But maybe your fork will come clean easier than ours (they were silver plate, BTW.)

Sorry, man.

You could try a metal polish as suggested by others, when the fork was made it would have been tempered to produce the strength ( heated to a particular temperature and cooled ), if you over heated the fork this would have altered the temper and this goes through the metal usually discolouring it in the process.. If the metal polish does not work its to late. Sorry......

Silverware polish.

STEP 1: Apply commercial silver polish as directed on product label, typically with a moist sponge.
STEP 2: Rinse sponge often, and rub polish in until tarnish disappears.
STEP 3: Rinse silver thoroughly in warm water to remove all polish.
STEP 4: Hand dry silver immediately with a soft dish towel.
