we have a cottage that gets used every few weekends and i'm wondering what the temperature is that it should be left at when we leave so the pipes don't freeze and burst. currently, we're leaving it at 15 C but think that it could probably be lower. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ok we are moving this coming weekend and we have to bc our lease is up. We rent a basement and actually are moving bc its just a ad situation all around. Anyway, it snowed and iced here last weekend and their is like 4 inches on thick ice EVERYWHERE and it look like it is not going anywhere anytime soon with this cold we have. Our door is in the back of the house and we park on the road. we cant move all this stuff on ice and our cars will hardly move what will we do. How can we melt a walk way that long in the ice? Its so hard we cant even break it.

Uh oh. I washed a new set of sheets with my husbands "Hurley" sweatshirt, and now it's got fuzzies all over it from the sheet. I've tried lint tape, masking tape, etc. I've even rewashed it, but it's still covered in fuzzies.

I've tried poison (as have my neighbours), as well as traps. Nothing works. Just seen two just now. Yuck! Someone suggested an airgun - would this be legal? This has been going on for months and I'm realy worried they'll end up in the house.

We rent so we are unable to permantly change the conture of the back yard but the whole yard is sloped downward away from the house. We want to get an above ground pool and we need to have a level area to install it on. I thought about building a playform but I am not sure how to do it and make it right.

i really need about 2 peices of flexible ducting, each 6-8" diameter, 4ft long.
i would prefer uninsulated ducting, under 20 dollars. I really dont need high quality, just 2 pipes.

Hi all, first time using this question thing,
Ive recently bought a house and the wallpaper in the living roof is really bad, im ripping it off and the walls poor behind, my mate has agreed to plaster it, hes been plastering for about 10 years, how will i know how much plaster to buy for him? its about 15ft x 10ft and about 8ft high walls, theres no major holes or anything, it just needs smoothing over so i can get it looking fresh with abit paint. Also... big question is, he says he will do it as a favour but i want to give him some money, whats the going rate for this sort of thing?

It started with damp black marks on the inside of every exterior wall, and it was especially bad behind furniture. We were told it was condensation, so we put thermal boarding up, and added loads of extra air vents, but still the problem returns. We even fixed the roof, guttering and the external rendering, but nothing seems to work, can anyone have any suggestions, I am totally desperate?!?!

My boyfriend and I recently bought a basement flat in a building with two other flats above us. We're both smokers, but we don't smoke excessively - we don't smoke in the flat in the day time and smoke no more than 10 cigarettes between us in the evenings.
The problem is, our upstairs neighbour is complaining about smoke in his flat. Now this isn't even the neighbour directly above us - they haven't said a word. This guy lives two floors above us! He's generally a busybody and has complained when the people next door had a bbq in the summer. But he claims the smoke coming from our flat is so bad he's wheezing and feeling ill!
At first we were concerned. We bricked up our fireplace in case smoke was going up the chimney, bought a £200 air purifier to leave on over night to take the smoke from the air and we burn essential oils whenever we smoke to take the smell away.
But he's still complaining! We're worried we're going to get sued. Does anyone know where we stand legally?

I want to encourage more blooms and leaves. I was thinking of topping it down maybe about a couple of feet. it has been planted for 6 years now and the leaves are becoming less.

Will this cut off the buds for this year if I do this now?
