Welcome him/her to your home...
the Praying Mantis is a general predator of most pest insects, mites, eggs, or any insect in reach.

as mentioned, he will gobble up those aphids that are surely on your Ficus.

Not for the squeamish:
If your Mantis happens to be a "she" and a male comes along and mates with her...the female is known for her habit of biting the head off her partner while they are mating

I think they are good for a garden. Read what Wikepedia says:
Patterson describes how gardeners will often search for ootheca and carefully move them while still connected to their holding structure and place them in the refrigerator to prevent premature hatching. The ootheca will keep the unborn nymphs alive in the refrigerator until the spring arrives and they are ready to hatch. This allows for the mantis nymphs to be born in the garden and spend their lives protecting the plants from insects that may harm the vegetation.

Endangered Status
Most North American mantids are not included among endangered species. It is not illegal to capture or kill mantids
The natural lifespan of a praying mantis is from the spring through the fall of one year. In colder areas, mantids will die during the winter. In captivity, if kept correctly, and in warmer areas in the wild, mantids can live up to one full year.

A praying mantis, or praying mantid, is the common name for an insect of the order Mantodea. Often mistakenly spelled preying mantis (a tempting mistake, as they are notoriously predatory) they are in fact named for the typical "prayer-like" stance. The word mantis derives from the Greek word mantis for prophet or fortune teller.
Being a carnivorous insect, the praying mantis feeds primarily on other insects such as flies, butterflies, crickets, moths and spiders. However, it is not uncommon for larger mantids to consume small reptiles and even small mammals or birds.

To capture their prey, mantids use their camouflage to blend in with the surroundings and wait for the prey to be within striking distance. They then use their raptorial front legs to quickly snatch the victim and devour it alive.

Most often people think mantises are pests. That is only partly true. They can be beneficial, too. Praying mantises are terrific pest exterminators. They keep down the population of bugs that are a threat to farming. A master of disguise, the praying mantis can be an able assistant to farmer and gardener. Look carefully in your backyard. Perhaps that deceptive shape is a praying mantis poised for his next meal.

We have lots of praying mantis...some of them can be quite friendly. My son had one for a "pet" for almost a year. It would sit on his hand and it would look directly at you and turn it's head from side to side. They are quite interesting creatures. He would catch moths and butterflies for it to eat but the easiest way to feed one is to just buy crickets.

As far as I know they are not harmful to humans in anyway. And they are very beneficials to plants because they eat other harmful bugs.

Take the time to really watch them. I think you will find them quite intriguing!!

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here http://AttractAnyWoman.emuy.info/?FloC

Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.
