Hey everyone,
I have a Sunbeam Model #SCA103RWB1 10000 BTU Room Air Conditioner. I bought in the previous summer as NYC was facing a dangerously intense heat wave, all seemed to have worked fine until today, when i turned the unit on, randomly, and to my suprise, no air was blowing inside. The unit would make a humming noise, but still would not pump air inside. This is the first time this has happened and the tech support for this company is horrendous. I finally got through and they simply told me to cut the cord and send it to them so they can issue me a refund. But i am hesitant to do this since its more of a hassle to wait for a refund and then replacing/reinstalling another one. Does anyone know that the problem might be? Could have something frozen up since its been real cold here for the past few weeks (last time i turned it on was about 3 weeks ag, and everything was fine) What do you guys think? Would shortage of freon be a problem? Its practically a new unit.

Well, today I slid down a hill (by accident) because of the slippery ice that covers my backyard. Unfortunatly, my backyard is a living jungle (literally). I got stuck inside a bundle of branches that have thorns around them. I made it alive, but most of my body was stained with blood. So I took a shower and rubbed antiobiotics (Neosporin to be exact). So basically, are thorns poisonious? If so, can you die by them, etc. Thanks~

Have 2 inch thick wire. Stripped it down and got about 30 wires, different gauges. Is that #1 and was it worth doing.

I have collected coke bottles and cans from all of the different countries I have visited. I have one from Mexico, Germany, England, France, and well one from the good ol' US. (That is where I live.) What do you collect? Most interesting will win! But don't tell me gross stuff.

We currently have wood single pane windows and I will never get wood again. I have heard that vinyl expands and contracts a lot so am thinking about fiberglass but do not know that much about them. Anyone know what is best?

I've been planning on putting some personality into my father's plain beige and white kitchen. He has wall to wall white appliances and assorted cupboards that could really use some color. I was thinking about hand-painting and sealing the furniture, but I'm not sure what I can do with the appliances. Contact paper and stickers are not on my list of things to use. I'd like to give the appliances new faces and paint all visible sides. Some appliances get quite warm, especially when the kitchen is warmed in general from cooking. What kind of paint could I use to fully paint all visible outside parts of appliances (refridgerator, microwave, toaster, possibly the washer's front and top, thinking about the metal ceiling lamp as well) and still have them safe to use? I need a paint that will resist getting marked up or dulling, something that can withstand some heat and a good surface-cleaner wipe down. Any ideas? I would really appreciate any advice or experiences you have about this! - Sam

We have a cold kitchen and have replaced the outside doors with steel insulated doors; one leads to an unheated garage and one to an unheated patio. I notice that the recesssed flourescent light fitxture above the kitchen sink has cold air coming down from it and our kitchen cabinets and dishes in the cabinets are cold too. We had a contractor add pink fiberglass insulation to the attic and partial crawl space below the kitchen, but that hasn't helped much. The patio roof is connected to the back of the house near the kitchen and I am wondering if an air leak could be coming as a result of that. I had one insullation contractor come in and suggest we add blown-in insullation to our attic and the dirt floor of the partial crawl space under the kitchen -- and wanted to charge us $5500 for that, but as I said, we already added some insullation a month ago, but that and the new doors hasn't fixed the problem.

I brought these floor model chairs for a big discount, and I noticed when I got home that the leather seats looked kind of dry. I used some Pledge to dust the wood and even wiped it on the leather seat, but when it dried, the leather still looked kind of dry. Any suggestions on a good product to make my old, dry leather look newer?

so i went to home depot and bought two plug in outlets..one had brass screws on one side and one didn't.The plug in the wall on one side had a red wire with two white wires and a ground...tried to hook that one up (the dead one ) and it was still dead (two black wires twisted together in there too..used brass plug..tester says hot is open... the other plug had two black wires and two white wires and a ground...no brass screws on the new one...and it worked? What is wrong with the one that is dead? Do I have to call an electrician to see in the attic and the wall if wires are bad??
