Granulated poison does work in about 4 days.
Find the entrance to thier nest and put out 50ml each evening. put it in a container whew wild birds cannot get to it.
The rats will die in thier nest in a few days.
It's the best £10 you can spend ( 500g of granulated poison )
The problem seems to be you have not foudn the nest yet.

Call your bylaw department and lodge a complaint. You may not want to fall out with your neighbors, but by not maintaining their decking they are creating a problem that could end up being a serious health problem, and could result in major damage to your property. Sooner or later, the rats are going to look at the greener grass on the other side -- YOUR HOUSE -- and try with all their might to get in. Also, rats carry disease, and can be very aggressive where food and territory is concerned. Nip this in the ever-growing bud. We live in a very funny world where people are so reluctant to get harsh with people who are behaving like irresponsible idiots and are endangering other people's health and safety.

An airgun would be legal as long as you don't hit something other than the rat.
Get a cat or get a barking dog. The cat will try to kill the rats and the dog would scare them to death.
You should probably check your neighbors' yards for open trash cans, junk lying in the yard, places that rats would live. I'd suspect that you have neighbors that are too messy to clean up areas that attract rats.

There has to be a reason you have rats?????
Someone leaving dog food outside?
open Compost bin?
Rotting vegetables / fruit?
Bird feeder?
Most likely some sort of food source is attracting them and keeping them there.
They could also be nesting some where !! ewe, bad news!!!!
Don't hesitate to call the health officials, as they will source out the cause.

Get a real aggressive,big cat.
Try putting a bunch of mothball around,I know the critters don't like those.
Good luck with the varmints.

You will need to contact your local council, they like to be aware of any vermin problems in your area, and as far as I'm aware the service is free as it can be a serious health problem, what have you to lose, phone them. You will also find that they are discreet so your neigbours are not aware you have a problem. Good luck

We had rats at one time then we got a cat which is great for getting rid of them. We also had a dog at one time but it is not nearly as good as a cat.

Now that you've poisened them best not to get a cat - the RSPCA will be on you like a ton of bricks
Rats are immune to most poisons - best to get a gun (legally of course) or a flame thrower!
Kill the little barstewards
