My vacume cleaner "died" a couple of weeks ago when I did this lady's house. So the only thing that didn't get done was 1/2 of her bedroom and the rest of the upstairs. Everything else was done. She is the only person who wants me to bring my own vac, she has one in the closet and I assumed it was broken. Well, she docked my pay stating that I only did 75% of the work. According to her, 25% of my time is spent vacumming, which is not the case. Also, she has asked me to do extras like, letting the dog out, making her bed and cleaning out the vents. I don't normally do this kind of stuff, but I liked her and I didn't mind. I never charged her for this stuff. I went out and bought a vacumm cleaner to do her house with, which I don't need. I have all wood floors. In the note she stated that next time my vac breaks, to use hers in the closet. Well, why is she making me haul mine? I did call her and tell her I will no longer be cleaning for her. She pays me for 3 hrs. Takes 4.

I've always wondered this. I am black and it's like ALL black families use wash cloths for bathing. Every black person I know has wash cloths in their household. It's like a given. When I was younger I would spend the night at my white friend's house and when it was time to shower, I'd ask my friend for a wash cloth and she'd say "huh? we don't have those, we just use our hands and a bar of soap"

Also, in soap commercials it always shows people in the shower with just a bar of soap, no wash cloth! The people in those commercials are non-black.

How can you get "everything" (and crevices) thoroughly cleaned and exfoliated without a wash cloth? Lol.

I would love to use some solar energy in my home. What can you tell me about how much it costs to begin? Is there some sort of federal tax credit? What all do I need to buy (panels, batteries, etc)? Can a homeowner do the installation or must it be done by a professional? Would also appreciate any websites for retailers of solar energy items. Thank you very much for any information.

I want to do my laundry room which is about the size of a closet. there's this ugly old tile on the floor and I was going to put the new stuff right over it. I don't want to remove the washer and dryer but want to cover the area in front of them plus about the first 12 inches underneath them. Vinyl tile is self-adhesive like a band-aid, but the sheet of floorcovering requires you to put down some sort of adhesive-right?

I was given an upright piano today that is at least 40 yrs old. Looks like solid Rosewood and the finish is stunning in places. Old owner smoked so it has that sticky film on it and in places has thick buildup of "hand grime". What will get the grime off and leave the finish under it? Any special precautions because it is a Piano? I have never owned one before so all tips to it's care will be appreciated!! Thanks.

I plug it in + the indicator light comes on and everything. But when I turn the knob, the fan blades don't turn and a very lound buzzing sound, similar to when your dryer goes off, goes on.
I can see no clear obstructions to the fan blades.
Is this buzzing a built-in warning sign? I never had the manual to this model, since I got it second hand.
Should I just chuck this in the garbage, or do you guys have some mechanical suggestions?
[If you don't have a serious answer, please don't reply... I don't feel like logging in here every time just to see a fiesty but pointless response, thanks.]

Large den with corner fireplace and big screen tv. Fireplace is in corner opposite tv. Can't move tv because the only place to move it would be on the same wall as fireplace in opposite corner. Need ideas on how to make use of fireplace without tearing it out. Too costly. Fireplace is behind all of the furniture and makes room look backwards and off balance. Please help!!!

recently when you do laundry after the cycle is completely done and i go go stairs there is still a bunch of water in the washer. When the washer is running it doesnt make any irregular noises and just works fine (minus this issue). The water doesnt flood out onto the floor. It just stays in the washer. Any suggestions

I think the residue from my benzoyl peroxide acne wash gets on my towel after washing my face, causing big bleach stains. Some of my towels turn completely orange after a week's worth of use, others have not been affected at all after having them a year. Is there a particular brand that is immune to the peroxide?

I was changing a light bulb on the ceiling of my laundry room and the glass bulb came loose from the silver thingy (i think that's what it's call now days). The stem is still in the socket and I can't get it out. What's the best way? I tried a potato, but there wasn't any glass left on the stem to grasp it. What is a poor girl to do?

My porch light broke in a weird way: the entire glass portion of the light bulb fell off, leaving only the metal base of the bulb in the socket. I can't get a grip on it, and I can't use the old potato trick since there's no broken glass sticking out. What do I do?

I bought these really nice red sateen sheets from macys and they are so hot because they don't breathe. That damn chemical( I think it's a polymer that they use on new sheets and towels won't come out no matter how many times I wash it. Iv'e tried hot water, cold water, oxyclean. Nothing works, the water just beads right off of them when they are dry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
