I've always wondered this. I am black and it's like ALL black families use wash cloths for bathing. Every black person I know has wash cloths in their household. It's like a given. When I was younger I would spend the night at my white friend's house and when it was time to shower, I'd ask my friend for a wash cloth and she'd say "huh? we don't have those, we just use our hands and a bar of soap"

Also, in soap commercials it always shows people in the shower with just a bar of soap, no wash cloth! The people in those commercials are non-black.

How can you get "everything" (and crevices) thoroughly cleaned and exfoliated without a wash cloth? Lol.

I am black and from all the white people I know, they all seem to use wash clothes. In America I think most people do. However, I am married to an East-Indian woman and discovered once we got married that she had never used a wash cloth for bathing ever which was really odd to me. Beforehand I thought that everyone in the world used them. So once I discovered that she had no concept of it, I suggested that she try it, which she did and ended up really liking it. She told me that using a wash cloth is so much better as it gives you a much better clean than your hands. She says you feel much better and now can't imagine not using one. She has since been suggesting it to her family. Simply put, your hands can never do what a wash cloth can do. I mean think about it, would you wash your car with your hands?

This could be construed as racial profiling...
Just kidding. I use wash-clothes, and some don't. I really don't get that involved in others personal hygiene...
If none available, you'd be surprised how much a hand towel is like a washcloth. If asked, "I couldn't find a washcloth..." solves the problem...

Um... I'm white an we've always had washcloths. I can't scrub my skin without one. I have one for my face and others for my body. They are color-coded, because I'm not washing my face with the one for my feet. I've always found it wierd when people just use their hands and the bar. To me the soap goes on the washcloth, and then on my skin. Rubbing the soap bar directly on myself seems like its contaminated.

I am what ever the money makers (AS.,JJ., LF. and EH.) call me. It changes over the years. It doesn't change me. If you preach to the choir...you are wasting your time. If you call a person asking for information, racist, they will cease and desist. This goes for both races. Congratulations, we (those of us trying to bridge the hate-gap) will discontinue conversation and allow the mysteries to flourish. Stay conscious, we are all in this crap together. It is a revolving door. Every once in a while open your eyes, you will find that American has more than just------ Blacks and Whites fighting each other.

Most people non black also use washcloths. The reason you don't see washcloths in soap commercials, is because they are showing the soap.

I grew up with washcloths. Best way to clean your ears. I'm Caucasian.
I think of it as an "old school" thing. Like I said, I grew up with a facecloth. Nowadays it's those puffy things, lol, what can one scrub with that?
The only washcloths I own now are dishcloths.

I'm white and I use wash cloths. I think you are a little confused. It's not just one race that uses them. Thats like saying only black people eat BBQ.

Hum...I'm not black and I grew up using wash clothes to shower and bath. Today though a nice option is a poof. They're made out of nylon net.
