Loosen the flint tension screw so there is less pressure on the flint and see if you can get it working that way or you could just take the flint out and insert it with the other end first and start all over. Flints usually do not give you trouble unless the flint is worn all of the way down and a small piece gets co cked in the tube and jambs the wheel. This is easily cured by turning the wheel backwards and removing the stump and inserting a new flint.

It sounds like there is know flint in it, but if there is a flint in the lighter you probably have a lemon for a lighter. My father has used zippo lighters for years and when ever it stops working, he just sends it back to zippo for repair or replacement. They,re guarentied for life. P.S, these lighters are made ronsol.

it needs a piece of flint. Pull the lighter out of the case. You will see a brass screw on the bottom. Remove it and the spring that it is attached. put in a flint and replace everything. Flints are available almost anywhere that sell lighters. The usually come 5 on a little plastic card

There is either a piece of flint stuck in it, or a small piece of metal from the making of the wheel. Try to dislodge it with a long needle, or probe, like a dental pick. If you cant dislodge it, send it to Zippo, and they will send a new one to you at no charge. If it ever breaks ,or you have a problem, they'll send you a new one forever,or as long as you own it,at no charge.

Loosen the spring screw, they are hard to strike when the flint is new, once it burns in, it will work, do tiny wheel flicks at first, forward direction, until she "burns in". Keep the spring screw loose at first few times, when the flint "Burns in", tighten/adjust spring screw slightly,

REMEMBER "LIFETIME GUARANTEE" on all "ZIPPO" Lighters, and THEY DO stand behind their product 100%, the lid broke on mine, I only asked if it could be fixed, and they sent me a new one.

keep striking it, the flint needs to wear in. Or open it and turn the flint around (not easy to keep it turned).
