I bought these really nice red sateen sheets from macys and they are so hot because they don't breathe. That damn chemical( I think it's a polymer that they use on new sheets and towels won't come out no matter how many times I wash it. Iv'e tried hot water, cold water, oxyclean. Nothing works, the water just beads right off of them when they are dry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using vinegar in the rinse. You will have to rinse a few times to get out the smell, but it should work. Test a small area first to check for colorfastness. ANd don't use fabric softener on towels. It makes them water resistant.

Not really sure but before I have put too much fabric softner in the wash and the water just beads off the item. For now when you wash do not add fabric softner and when you dry them use a dryer sheet.

Are you using liquid fabric softener in the washer? That stuff will make your towels totally non-absorbent. You can dry yourself off for days and they'll just push the water around.

The next time you wash them, Take a cup of vinegar and pour it in the rinse water, when you wash is done, you will smell the vinegar, but don't worry when you take them out of the dryer, the smells will all be gone.

its a fabric made to look good and not feel good, i dont think you can change them, always best to go with plain cotton as good a thread count as you can manage. smooth and cool, and satin is horrid, i tried that one, you cant keep them on the bed.
